Saddles.....saddle making
Boots .......bootmaking
Log Cabins.......or depending on the area.....mud houses......why the pioneers built their homes out of what they did....etc

There's a million things to choose from.....Beats the heck out of a term paper i had to do on the Bubonic (sp it's been 20some years)Plague. That'll gross you out for sure.

Just curious but this isn't a social studies assignment your doing now, is it?

Here's some of my topic suggestions:

1)first rodeo that ever came to Manitoba, how it got started, who started it, when was it, etc.

2)Simple politics  Like first premier of Man., something like that...

3)Biography of Louis Riel and the Metis rebellion (that's something western-like)

Thank You all for your suggestions, i think im gunna go with the rodeoing aspect. like where the first one was who started it, it there was any prizes and what events were in it! so if you want to help me with that, id be thankful!!

I think trying to track down when and where the first rodeo was held, with any acuracy, will be about like finding a needle in a haystack! Practically impossible....you don't know how many signs i have seen going into towns claiming they have had the first rodeo ever. Although I'm sure that the teacher this report is for is prolly about as ignorant to rodeo as a frog is to flying so you'll prolly be ok, but perhaps you should localize your subject to one event or state or perhaps just to Canadian rodeo. If your a country girl, which I assume you are, I'd pick one specific rodeo performer (bull rider, bronc rider, barrel racer, clown, etc...) who you sorta like and respect and do a detailed report on them or a detailed report on a certain event.

But yeah like I said earlier I can almost guarantee your teacher don't know buttkus from rodeo so she'll just grade on spelling and sentence structure anyway and not content. You could have it full of lies and she wouldn't know any difference!

txtibbs, i think you know my teachers better than me :P but yea, i think what you said would be easyier! you see thats why i asked y'all about it cuz my friends wouldnt no shirt about this :P so thank you, oh and yes i am a country girl, live out in the boonies!! :D and proud of it :D

A interesting thing I know about the early rodeo's is that to contain the rodeo that vehicals were set in a circle and the rodeo would take place inside of the circle...A sweet lady I used to give care to told me about these kind of rodeos and she also told me they didn't contain the bucking animals real well. Man I wish I remembered her name,OT may have recognised her husbands name,he was a bareback rider. I'm sure you can find pics of this. Like I said in a earlier post search Pete Knight,King of the cowboys.
