We visited our daughter and her family at Christmas.
They raise QH in Wyoming. I managed to get a good picture
of her and our grandson to share with you here. Also some
pictures of some of their young horses. I hope you enjoy!
The horses are mostly Smart Smoke and Leo San bred.
We liked the bone and the wither on these horses.

This is our daughter:

And our 12-year old grandson. It was nice enough for him
to wear a straw hat. Well, he thought so anyway!

Here is a horse Mr. FH wanted to take home. He has a super
disposition and is very athletic.

But here is the one I liked; a coming 3 year old with a '
fabulous mind. I love these apple butted horses:

And here are a couple of greys, coming 3 yr. olds:

Here was a youngster that Mr. FH halter broke 2 years ago. He
was our favorite then. He just floats when he moves. This wasn't
a real good picture of him, but I'm including it anyway.

Post a picture, and we'll tell you if we agree.

Nice pictures, Faster Horses. Your daughter and her family have some nice horses. Wish I lived closer to go check them out.

You mean to tell me you aren't green and furry with a crooked beak and fuzzy purple slippers  :P :P

Yeah post a picture Judith-- You must be quite the looker if you look like FH's good looking daughter....

OT, that is what I look like before I shave and put my make- up on :) :P

And of course I wear my slippers in the barn :)

FH, thankyou for the info today. we saw the pictures that you posted and we are going to go have a look on saturday.i talked to them and it sounds like they may be what i'm looking for, provided i can afford them. your help is greatly appreciated. the next time ya'll head this way let me know so i can show off some horses. i will try to get some pics of the sorrel that i was telling you about.
P.S
to all those that may wonder, FH has a shonuff goodlooking daughter. she is every bit as pretty as the picture would lead you to believe with an attitude to match.
have a great day

Very nice lookin Grandson too! He's got his mothers smile.. :D Those horses are in very good shape and should winter well...Then when spring comes around...trying to decide which horse to ride.... :???: Thanks

FH, the horse you like sure reminds me of Toilet Paper. Thats what he looked like before surgery. He's still strugglin with puttin all his weight back on, slowly but surely he's gettin there. She's ridin him daily and he's gettin better and better. Just takes a while tho when they are bein used. He don't look bad by any means, just not in Tip Top shape weight wise yet. Your favorite just has one more white sock than he has LOL

Great pictures thanks for sharin. Your grandson looks like a happy go lucky kiddo.

Thanks for all the nice remarks.

Soapweed, they don't live far from Rapid City.
Think "Stock Show" and it's just a short drive from there.
You can see Devils Tower out their front window.

Tumbleweedtxn, glad I could help. And thanks so much
for your kind words. I always say, "pretty is as pretty does."
(Tumbleweed has had her cut his hair in Gillette at her barber
shop, so he has met her.)

Judith, her eyes are hazel, sometimes green with a lot of
gold shooting out from the pupil. She has very interesting
eyes and I bet you do too.

JB, I thought 'cat hammed' was when horses didn't have
much inside hind leg. So we both learned something today.

Jazzy, we think that grandson is something special. Of course,
we only have one, darn it!!!!!!!!! And he's an operator, not
a horse person at all!!! But every ranch needs someone to
operate machinery, right? Well, unless you are NR or Jinglebob.

OT, thanks for your kind words too. Appreciate them.
She's a real horsewoman, has been since she was a little kid.

Nice pictures Faster :) Very pretty girl you have...your granson looks like a special young man,I have a preference to grandsons thier the best :!:

So why did you want to put blonds in a sack :P

Lovely daughter... Her eyes kind of sound like what mine do, and really what they used to do.. They would go from an almost emerald green to a goldish brown depending on what mood I was in or what color I was wearing. No one really noticed until I got contact lenses and than any girl who knew me always had to comment on it.. Made me blush a time tor two.... But the freakeist time was when I was in Precalc as a junior and my teacher comes over and gets about 6 inches from my face and just stared for a couple seconds... Gave me the willies and than she said, "Had to see what those freshaman girls were talking about"... Apparently my name had been in the announcements and one of the girlds didn't know who I was until another said "You know, the one with those eyes".. Someone that cued them into it being me but I though all of us guys in the junior class had eyes. To be honest, still creeps me out.

Lovely family and horses FH...

Hey, those eyes are cool, IL Rancher. Thanks for the nice comment,
too. And we have the perfect horse for you. He has a little age on him,
but he's been there, done that and is gentle and sound as can be.
We could stick him on with the steel greys for L.E. Stevens.

And L.E. Give me a drop-off point!
BTW, there is a gorgeous bald faced grey there that I didn't get
a good picture of.

Speaking of eyes, the young man that worked for us during the
summer for several years had one brown eye and one blue eye.
Always caused some conversation which he learned to use to his
advantage. He was supposed to wear glasses or contacts when
he was driving and didn't always do so. He got picked up for
speeding and the HP checked to see if he was wearing the
required glasses or contacts (which he wasn't) but he convinced
the HP that he had colored contacts and had lost one. Therefore
both eyes were not the same color. :P

It well could be. It's just what I always called them horses with a drop off at the top of the hips. Maybe more anguler would be tyhe right way to say it. Any I've ever rode like that, seemed to be pretty handy. of course, I like them horses who look like they have their hind fewet tucked under them. Seems like they can stop and turn around pretty quick and it sure don't dseem to affect their speed any.

What would you rather ride, if it were possible, a cheeta, a jackrabbit or a mountain lion? I think Mr Lion would probably be pretty handy. Tho, I doubt I could stay on any when they went to movin'.

I kind'a liike them cowhorse bred horses, but maybe when I get a bunch raised and find I can't stay on top, I will change my mind!

Say FH, can you see your daughters place from the interstate?Tthere is a place just east of Moorcroft on the north side of the interstate. I always think it looks kind of cold and lonely. No trees, just the house, settin' in the wind. Brrrrr.

But you can se the Tower from there.

No, Jinglebob, they live near Oshoto. About 25 miles from the
Interstate. That's probably our place you see with no trees.

When they sent the 'apple butted' horse out to be ridden (they
just have too many to get to them all themselves) the fellow
called back and said, "Did you send me an exceptional colt, or
are they all like this? This colt is really nice." I will mention
again that I think the withers on these colts are exceptional
for the kind of breeding they have. We like withers on horses.

Stan Weaver, (Weaver Quarter Horses) called to wish us a
Happy New Year yesterday and he and I had this same conversation.
He works at keeping withers on his cow bred horses. Seems
like it is easy to lose a good wither.

Apple Butted Horses??? Are they the ones that make Road Apples? LOL

Show me a picture of great horses and the first thing I'll notice or wonder...Why id the gate in the background upside down???? LOL, I am too anal I guess...Is there a 12 step program? LOL..

Nice Horses and looks like a nice family!

PPRM

That gate sure is upside down, isn't it? Doesn't swing either.
Well, all our gates at home swing...

I do think they are planning to make some pen changes,
but still, that gate should be right side up. Some things just
don't matter to some people I guess.

I'm embarrassed now, and it isn't even our place.

(Just for the record, I hate all the wasted hay, too.
