Hey Denny.

Can you give us a cost on that and a rough feed analysis?

Thanks.

and I have a couple more questions for Denny?

I assume this syrup does not contain any alcohol whatsoever and would freeze at the same temps as water?

Do the contents settle out and need to be agitated if not consumed right away?

Does syrup flow better warm and get sluggish as it cools off like molasses?

Could a guy dump it in a stock tank, let it freeze, and let the cows lick it like a popcicle after it freezes???

Sorry, I guess that is more than a couple questions!

1st it freezes to a point of thick peanut butter there is enough oil in it to keep it from freezeing rock hard.

As far as the settleing it is quite thick once it cools and take's twice as long to unload if left to cool I did that one time never twice. The moisture content is about 3% more than the wet cake we have.

I have friends who have 30 or so cows and fill stock tanks once a week and the cows clean up every bit but it does'nt freeze that hard I have 260 head in my group so 2 hours is as long as it last.

I will grab a feed analisis sheet tomorrow when I'm there.

Right now the cost is free which is how it has been for years but like everything they are seeing increaseing demand so they may start to charge for it.

I haul 1160 gallon's at 11.8#s per gallon for $45 per load for expences. There was a feedlot that took 4, 5000 gallon loads today

We feed distillers to our fall cows it's cheaper then cake. I haven't seen the wet distillers before though. I had heard of it the gentleman that bought our steer calves was glad to see them eating distillers so well and thought it would help them adjust to eating it wet. However, I don't think his was quite so much like syrup but I'm not sure.

It really doesn't contain much as feed value, does it? You have to look at the dry matter analysis as that is what matters. 7% protein and 32% TDN doesn't say much for it. How much do you say they eat per head per day?

What do you feed with it Denny?

BUT HEY, I just went back and looked, the PRICE IS RIGHT!!!!

We feed 26#s per hd.per day as fed They also get all the meadow hay they can eat with it.Were super short on feed in this country so these cows are making it on 2 and 3 year old hay so far..We have about 3 week's of poor hay left then we will start them on wet distillars grain that we fed last year plus mixed upland hay and of course mineral...

The wet cake is basically your Dried distillars prior to being dried they also blend this syrup in with both the wet and dried distillars most likely the very fine's in your DDG is from the syrup.

I think you misred the analysis. It is 20.59% protein and a TDN of 93.64%. At the rate of about 9 lbs of dry matter that denny is feeding I would sure think it would reduce the amount of hay needed a fair amount.
