Went to a sale a Sisseton, SD and bid on some customers calves. Didn't get them, but they sold great. They weighed 726 lbs and brought $122.60. They were nearly 100% Red Angus. The next group of calves were a good set of Limi cross calves that weighed 720 lbs. They brought $114.50. It was nice to see my customer get that extra $8 a hundred weight for his calves. The crossbreds may gain a little better from heterosis but the straight Angus (red or black) do sell better. Being straight Red Angus earned them an extra $57.6. He sold 70 head. That totals up to an extra $4032 on that load.
