Went tonight to check on the cows in the summer range and took a couple of friends of miine with me. on the way back to the truck under a full moon they kept making the comments about how beutiful everything was. I just sat there quite the whole time listening to them thinking to myself it is a normal night to me. But after they left and I was taking care of my horse I caught myself looking at the sky and the moon. Then it hit me that we as ranchers and farmers have something really special that most of the rest of the world seldom get to see or enjoy. That's when I realized that we are a very special breed that get to witiness the real joy of mother nature of a daily occurance. I myself have realize tonight that I take all of this for granted and that I am really lucky to call ranching my way of life.

Amen!!! It's amazing how awesome the little things in life are if we can just take the time to appreciate them!

Cure, When are we going to get together over a Pepsi!

There are so many everyday things like you mentioned that we often overlook or take for granted. It always blows me away when we have city folks visit us and comment on being able to see the stars. They never get to see the stars in the city because it never gets dark!!! Can you imagine?

The (relative) quietness of the country, hearing and seeing nature like they never can - what an inestimable privilege to live and work in the country!

You bring up a good point, cure.

H when ever you to have that pepsi let me know. By the way I am glad to see that I am not the only night owl playing on the computer at that time at night :D :D

Just a few days ago a census taker stopped in, the second one, I guess the government wants to make sure no one was missed this time. She mentioned of what a view we have here. Surprised me, What view? Yes from a high hill we can see a fairly long distance, but we who live here see nothing special. I will say though, that for years when I stood out in my yard and looked to the southwest on an afternoon, I marveled at the purple shadows and colors of the hills. But for some reason I don't see them anymore, maybe I just don't have the time to look.

I have a place I stop every day for a cup of tea and a quiet time, the view across the chalk downs is breathtaking. I never did appreciate the scenery and wildlife back home in Africa, that was just 'normal' to me, should I ever return, I will never make the same mistake again!

Live each day, heck each moment, like it might be your last! Not in some perverse or twisted way. But in tune with nature and the world by noticing the countless perfect sights and sounds and feelings that come EVERYDAY! Life to me isnt about the grand times and memories, although they are pretty neat. It's about the journey everyday. The words, the hugs, the sights, the breeze, the rain, the dust, the smiles, the flowers...... I can't come close to naming a tiny percentage! LIFE is the best adventure of all if we'll take the time to see! AND DO! :D
