Maybe this should be titled how to catch a wild lib?

How to catch a wild pig.......

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back And stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ' Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how To forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, free medical, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

One should always remember 'There is no such thing as a free Lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

As you hear the Senators running for President ..listen closely at the free stuff you are going to be entitled too when they get in office...remember though, some US worker is going to be paying for all your freebies.. any idea on what insurance for 47 million unemployed workers is going to cost taxpayers, especially when ours cost the company $615 a month as retirees without the eyecare ! The Federal Government cannot afford such a health plan..and 21 million of the 47 million are illegals !!

Any idea how much 47 million unemployed people not having insurance is costing us right now in higher insurance rates and health care costs :???:

The present policy of doing nothing isn't working either...

If we had an administration that believed in the law-and in enforcing the laws they swore to enforce, we wouldn't have 21 million illegal invaders in this country, nor the opportunity still available for any more to come anytime they want- but then that would upset their elitist buddies supply of maids, poolboys, nannies, and cheap semi slave labor.... :(

One thing this report does not show- is the fact that uninsured workers lack of preventative care- and subsequent late discovery of serious illness- raise all of our health care and health care insurance costs enormously...The AMA predicts that if everyone had health care insurance available so they could have/afford regular preventative care the reduction in costs of advanced health care procedures (which we all pay for now in increased costs and rates) would be more than the cost of making health care insurance available to everyone...

2006- 18.8% of adult Montanans had no health insurance (I've heard reports that is now over 25%) :( .....

2 working age Montanans die each week due to lack of health insurance...

Reports Shows How Many People Are Likely to Die in Each State Due to Lack of Health Coverage

State-by-State Reports Reveal Why Insurance Matters as a Life-and-Death Issue

Washington, D.C. — In 2002, a groundbreaking national study by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences demonstrated the direct link between a lack of health coverage and deaths from health-related causes. Drawing on that study, Families USA, the national organization for health care consumers, has today made available reports for all 50 states that show how many people are expected to die in each state each week because they don't have health coverage. A separate report is also available for the District of Columbia.

The individual reports, available on the Families USA Web site, provide eye-opening numbers for every state. Among the figures cited is the fact that more than seven working-age Texans die each day due to a lack of health insurance. Other reports reveal that, on average, approximately 960 people in Illinois died in 2006 because they had no health coverage, and nearly 9,900 uninsured New Yorkers between the ages of 25 and 64 died in the years 2000 to 2006.

"Our report highlights how our inadequate system of health coverage condemns a great number of people to an early death simply because they don't have the same access to health care as their insured neighbors," Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA, said today. "The conclusions are sadly clear—a lack of health coverage is a matter of life and death for many people.

"Health insurance really matters in how people make their health care decisions," Pollack said. "We know that people without insurance often forgo checkups, screenings, and other preventive care."

As a result, he said, uninsured adults are more likely to be diagnosed with a disease, such as cancer, in an advanced stage, which greatly reduces their chance of survival. The Institute of Medicine found that uninsured adults are 25 percent more likely to die prematurely than adults with private health insurance.

Another recent academic study found that uninsured adults between the ages of 55 and 64 are even more likely to die prematurely. For this group, a lack of health insurance is the third leading cause of death, following heart disease and cancer.

In its 2002 report, the Institute of Medicine estimated that 18,000 adults nationwide died in 2000 because they did not have health insurance. That estimate was later updated by the Urban Institute, which reported that at least 22,000 adults died in 2006 due to a lack of health insurance.

Although 50 state reports were released by Families USA today, Pollack cautioned against trying to make state-to-state comparisons. The variables of population size, mortality rates, and uninsured rates for people ages 25-64 have made each state report unique.

"We never sought to say one state is 'better or worse' than another in terms of these mortality statistics," Pollack said. "Instead, we have sought to make these tragic numbers more meaningful by making them as local as possible and by indicating how frequently these deaths may occur. State-specific reports are the most 'local' we are able to offer with the data available."

if the Government takes over healthcare, what will convince you they won't screw it up like everything big gov touches? My Doctor is a smart, energetic, enthused, wise young guy who works his butt off for me and my family. I buy all my insurance and pay more so I can still have him as my Doc. I don't want some under-achieving, buracratic government doctor who WILL be just like 90% of Gov. workers, making lifechanging decisions for my kids and my wife and myself. When you take away the insentive to work hard like my Doctor had to, to become a great doctor and replace that with whatever Government decides is best for you, you Will lose quality! I have no doubt that taxes will increase to pay for all the freebies. So who wins? A lot of folks who won't work hard enough to pay for insurance and want a handout from everyone who does! My opinion and I'm sure the Liberals will shoot it down. But when everyone has free insurance, free education, free housing, free transportation, free groceries, won't we be kinda like the socialists who pretty much went down in flames in the late 80's? And what makes ya'll think all this free stuff is acually free? Again, my 2 cents worth of what I think.

I don't think any of the candidates- or anyone in government that I've heard of has called for or even talked of nationalized medicine...What they are talking about tho- is offering/making available health care INSURANCE for everyone in the country- which still allows everyone the choice of their Doctor, Clinic, Hospital or any other health care provider....

Even the AMA opposes nationalized medicine (like Great Britain) but does support and promote available health care insurance for all to reduce all of our health care and health care insurance costs....

I'm not sure what is the best health care insurance plan- but I am sure the present policy (DO NOTHING) is not working- not when health care insurance costs are raising at 10.6% a year- especially when wages/earnings are stagnated or in some cases moving backwards....
Not many folks can handle a 10.6% per year increase....

Hillary wants to FORCE me to have health coverage to the point of holding my wages if I don't voluntarily sign up! What ever happened to independence? To self-sufficient folks who do not have thier hand out? Everything government touches gets jacked up and made worse. Heck, they want to bail out a spending problem by SPENDING!!!! Anybody else think if people were saving we wouldn't have the mess we are in now? If you trust politicians with Fixing health care, go ahead. I have a young family and older, retired parents and I see lots a people struggle to get the care and drugs they need. I pay a lot of hard earned money to insure my family. And the last thing I want is anyone, government or anyone else, taking away my choices and my independence!!!!! Capitalism has put men on the moon, split the atom and made American hospitals and healthcare the class of the world. If you take away the incentive to be successful you take away the success that follows great minds doing their best for the reward that they are aiming for. Who wants that?

leanin H-- One question- if it was going to damage or be negative towards health care services, or hospitals, or doctors, why would the American Medical Association be not only supporting- but promoting having everyone in the country covered by some type of health care insurance ? :???:

I guess I've never thought of the AMA as a Liberal or Socialist institution... :???:

It's easy to see why the AMA would support health care for all.................

They want to get paid now!

Yep- and what happens if they don't get paid?... They just raise the costs that you and I that are paying or have insurance pay- that then causes the health insurance companies to raise their rates to you and me...And those higher rates means fewer people that can afford or will pay for early preventive health care or health care insurance....
A never ending catch 22 thats spiraling out of sight...+10.6% raise nationally just last year alone

When the radio was reporting the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences study results yesterday on the news- they reported that 25% of all adult Montanans now no longer have health insurance...

Taxing achievement and rewarding failure, government manipulation by giving tax breaks to businesses for providing insurance to employees, while penalizing individuals who buy their own insurance, those (and there are many) who CHOOSE not to purchase insurance because hospitals can't turn them down anyway........there is FAR more to health care costs than ANY manipulation by the medical professions......if we just look honestly at the problems.

I have no doubt that some hospitals get stuck with emergency room bills.

But the AMA is an association for doctors. The doctors on call in those emergency rooms are paid by the hospitals and get paid whether the hospital does or not by the patient.

All other doctors make you furnish proof of insurance or make you pay cash/credit card. etc. at the time of service.

By making laws where hospitals MUST take emergency patients whether they have the ability to pay or not is of concern.

Insurance red tape alone is costing a fortune.

Insurance is not a right, it's a privilege.
