I've been trying to gather bulls this week. The bull I had who was buried in brush, a few miles from the corral, was with cows :D !!! I only have one bull left to find, and the other permittee has two head. I hope we can get the rest found and captured soon :D .

The horses grazing imaginary grass  . Me and the other permittee like to gather bulls without much help, seems to go better  . The first day she and I gathered and the second day she had her summer helper ride along.

Some of the pairs/yearlings kept home this summer. These girls helped me get the bulls loaded by hanging out quietly by the trailer (a little cake was involved  ). Two of the bulls were the ones I trained to load earlier this spring... it worked too well... I had set some panels up, and was in the trailer using the "little girl's room", when I looked up to find one of the bulls stepping up into the trailer (and no, I didn't have my camera with me) . Needless to say, I hadn't unloaded my horse out of the front compartment, and so I had to unload the bull to get out. He loaded right back up though  . What are the odds???

Home again :-) . I had one bull the first day who didn't want to gather with other bulls. He likes to fight, but seems to always lose  . Anyhow, we almost had him to the corral, when a mature bull heard us and came out from hiding. I knew the fighting bull wouldn't last long, and so I let him drift back into another bunch of cattle. Luckily I found him later in the week, and he gathered good  .

So, .. was that cheese cake :???:  used to load the bulls ??

We pulled some bulls the other day too,,and it went pretty smoothly. I sure wished ya would of had a photo of a bull loading in the trailer with you in it..lol would of been a fun shot! Glad things are working out as planned...thanks

Great pics!! Tomorrow we will pick up the last of our bulls until the community pasture starts gathering. They are both yearlings so I don't expect many problems.

And what do you do in your spare time. :D

Actually, I've just started working part-time as a consultant for one of the wind developers hoping to build a project in the area. I can do the work at night, mostly online. Good thing I'm a hyper person  . I'm sure LOVING the extra income... I just think of it as a well-paying night-calving job without having to go outside in blizzards!!!... and as they say, "make hay while the sun shines." :D :D :D I love ranching, but the writing is on the wall, and I need to be thinking of "plan b" . My goal is to do what I can to help maintain this ranching asset in the long term, and an outside source of income doesn't hurt to achieve that goal. We'll see how long it works out for.

Thanks all for the nice compliments :D . I'll let you know if I find the last bull. He's extremely crippled up, and so he may have to drag himself out on his own. He's been with cows the whole time though, so I do have hopes of getting him :-) .
