Not digging the B1G anymore...Don't get me wrong, I hated Dan Beebe, but now that he is gone, I think the conference would have been fine. Coincidentally Texas started being bad as soon as we left too.

At the time the move to the B1G was exciting and sounded great to get out of the power control of Texas. But it doesnt seem Texas has that control anymore since Beebe left.

And it is my understanding we currently don't see much if any of the B1G money yet? And wont until 2017 or something like that? I may be wrong here.

But i dont know, miss the Big12. Feels more right to be there. Also i think the move to B1G has really hurt our recruiting, we no longer can appeal to Texas players, and we have to start our new pipelines into states already controlled by B1G powers like tOSU, Michigan, Penn State.

I am personally one happy camper that we don't have to watch Trevone Boykin and TCU put up 80 on our defense

Well yes, those offenses are ridiculous right now. Baylor as well. But, I think our offense would look good against their defenses.

Maybe it is because to me college football is so much about tradition, history and rivalries, and we just haven't been in the B1G long enough to develop any of that. But I miss the nostalgic feeling of the Big 12.

I don't miss the Big 12, but I desperately miss our old Big Eight teams.

I'm still holding out hope that something crazy will happen in the conference realignment world someday where we somehow return to playing some or all of those Big Eight teams again.

With how good the other Texas' schools are becoming, I could see the state of Texas just reforming the SWC again.

Texas

Baylor

Texas Tech

TCU

Houston

Texas AM - surprised to leave SEC? Why not? You wont ever win that division with LSU and Alabama present. And the move to SEC has greatly improved your image and brand, come back to SWC and dominate.

Meanwhile, Nebraska and Oklahoma can work on getting the band back together.

Really. Smgdh here. You would miss Baylor dropping 60 on us or tcu dropping 50. Heck Texas tech would drop 50 on us. We would be competitive with Kansas and Iowa st. That's it.

I miss us playing hard nosed quality football, don't care what conference we are in.

Not one team we have played this year has the opposing defense been gassed in the 4th Qtr.

As much as we owned the Time of Possession in todays game against Northwestern, their defense was not gassed in the 4th Qtr.

Our offensive line is not dominating and thus, teams are not worn out by our style of play.

With the option, we would wear opponents down, at least with the hurry up spread we did wear down defenses.

But what we are now doing is never going to wear any defense down.

Advantage opposing team defense.

We fit in better in the Big 12. I wouldn't mind if we went back. I don't see us winning the West let alone the B1G any time soon.

Just go independent. Get a TV deal with someone, and schedule Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa and Colorado every year. After that, schedule who ever you want.

If I was NU and independent I would get a schedule that looked something like this...

Week 1 - Mizzou (Permanent)

Week 2 - Houston

Week 3 - Florida State or Miami

Week 4 - BYE

Week 5 - Kansas State (Permanent)

Week 6 - Tennessee

Week 7 - SMU

Week 8 - Iowa (Permanent)

Week 9 - Air Force or Navy

Week 10 - Oklahoma (Permanent)

Week 11 - Colorado State

Week 12 - Notre Dame

Week 13 - Colorado (Permanent) Thanksgiving weekend

Week 14 - BYE (CCG Week)

Bowl Game - ???

The issue with the B1G is, the West was extremely weak this year, we had a decent amount of talent and are going to finish last or second to last place in the West.....

We have to try and enter ourselves into recruiting grounds that belong to Ohio State and Michigan.

Urban Meyer and Ohio State are not going to lose the strong hold on this conference.

Look, people will want to pretend like this is not the case but it is true...

1. No one actually cares about "Big Ten Money"
2. No one actually care about "BIg Ten Stability"
3. 99% of Husker fans would rather be in the Big 12

The things that made the Big 12 better for Nebraska were simple: Rivals, regional games, bragging rights, opportunity for championship level football without realignment, (Big 10 already realigned once Nebraska played for Big 10 title), Big 12 never done that.

People were overreacted to the Texas loss in the Big 12 Champ game. Agreed. Everyone knows that.

Recruiting has taken a nose dive since joining the Big 10. Nebraska spent decades , decades in Texas mending, building recruiting ties. That was lost when we moved to this Acedemic Conference, if you choose to believe that ever had a true reason for leaving.....

Could the Big 12 ever happen........I think it could if the Big 10 continues to invite in schools like Rutgers and Maryland to join, just for the "East Coast money". The best thing for Nebraska would be if the Big 12 imploded, and that could happen, and Iowa St, KSU, and KU somehow joined the Big 10. Its already been said that KU has been offered in the past for the basketball, and its widely considered that if the Big 12 would ever crap on them in some way, they would bolt, along with KSU for the Big 10 as well.

If this would happen, you would see Iowa St go as well.

Imagine this:

Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa St, KU, KSU, Wisky, Illinois, NW, Notre Dame-West

OSU, Michigan, MSU, Indiana, Purdue, Penn ST, Maryland, Rutgers-Minnesota-East

That would enhance this league, and make Nebraska better. Of course with the current admin, and coaching staff, this wouldn't matter.

Notre Dame would make this all worth while.

Each team would have 8 conference games and 3 non-cons. USC, Florida St would still be able to play Notre Dame.

Nebraska could schedule OU and Mizzou along with a tune up beginner game.

Dreaming!

For all the Taters and wannabe Taters...instead of trying gather wisdom and truth from wannabe Husker sites on the net, I suggest going on Facebook and searching Adam Carriker. Read the Carriker Chronicles and see what a member of the 95 Husker team and former NFL player's take is on the Husker situation. I'd trust his take on things far more than fair weather Husker fans, Taters, and armchair Taters.

BTW Jigs, we've at least won a conference game. That's more than the Crypt Keeper can say so far. We've lost all our games by a combined total of what, 8 points? You lost by more than that last Saturday.

well it appears to me that you ran away from the Big 12 due to not being the king anymore, and now that your just a pawn in the new conference, you STILL want to compare yourself to a team in the Big 12..... sad little man.... just take your ash whoopin in this great new conference that is laughing at you, and let the Big 12 do their thing. we still have a solid shot at being bowl eligible, I wonder if you have a popcorn farts chance in a whirlwind

Why would I compare anything to a team that our lifetime record against is 75-15? I was pointing out that Taters don't have room to disrespect any team this year.

We can argue and pontificate from now until the cows come home about Nebraska going to the B1G, but the fact of the matter is we did. It's done, over, history....and we ain't coming back to the Big XII. IF Oklahoma and Kansas go to the B1G, as is rumored, is Texas gonna save you? If Texas goes independent like Notre Lame, and if OU and KU are gone, you Taters will be in quite a fix.

You've got enough to worry about with an unstable conference, and a retread HC that's as old as the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) with no recruiting foundation to speak of, and, quite frankly, isn't looking very "legendary" this season. Maybe when the Crypt Keeper retires or expires for reals and trues, you can head to Youngstown State and hire Bo.

As I've said before, I don't know if Riley is the guy, and there seems to be something going on internally with a few players (Bo's recruits) that is not conducive to peace & harmony, but I do believe Riley is the guy who'll lay the foundation to get us back.

Don't worry about us going to a bowl or not, Jiggsy. The Taters got paid for generations by the bowl appearances made by Nebraska and Oklahoma, and never had to kick anything up.
