all you ever heard was tradition and how they miss the OU rivalry game, and now...screw it, it is all bout the money. huskers try to rationalize it to make it easy to sleep at night, but deep down, they know they are being hosed over.....
Mike said:So it is all about the money. :???:The money thing isn't just athletics, although we we need more money (or think we do) because our basketball facilities are arguably the worst in the Big 12. Football also supports all of the other programs, so all the women's sports, swimming, bowling, etc... need to be funded and football is the only one that is cash positive.
However, the real money thing is in research/grants. I'm not sure how the school rating thing goes, but everybody in the Big 10 is in the highest classification, as is Nebraska. That's not the same for the Big 12. For some reason, the crew you're associated with makes a difference on your chances for that big money, and not more doors open up for us.
I would never condone Auburn for leaving the SEC, nor would anyone else, for any amount of money.
Will the Huskers retain ANY of the old rivalry games? Only conference games are listed on the Big 10 website.
Hope they know what they're doing, but I just can't see it. Do you really agree, or are you just justifying it for the Huskers sake?
