Hydraulic Chute

We have been thinking about getting a hydraulic chute now the last couple years. This morning I went and did it and ordered a Silencer Extended Chute with a palp and a scale on it.(it haas a few other bells and whistles on it as well) These things sure are expensive, but really not much more than their competitors. Nearly everyone I have visited with has told me to not mess with any other brand as they are one of the best, but they also hold their value so well. Dad was recently at the Black Hills Stock Show where he looked at and priced several different brands. He liked a couple of the others but they were either about the same price or some was more expensive. Some were cheaper but he said they were made that way too. Anyway, I hope it is worth it, we won't get it until July.

I have been to a few farm shows were they have cattle working demos. My uncle also has a silencer at his small feedlot. They sure look like the way to go to me if you have enough of a herd to need a hydrolic chute. I can't believe how quite they are and how the cattle go through them.

Our local vet goes all over (and I mean ALL OVER) the country ultra-sounding
heifers and he has a Silencer. He may have 2...they get worked hard and he's
really sold on them. He pulls his on a trailer everywhere he goes. He'd rather
use it than just about anything.

Good luck with yours! I'm sure you will really like it.

i think you will love it, i've run several but the one at one of the places i work has the same one you ordered but minus the scales. It is awesome!! quiet so you can hear yourself think and the cattle flow good with the luvers (sp) we also have the neck extenders and they are great for everything from eartaging, dehorning, etc to just making them stand still better to give shots. I also like the area for giving shots in the neck, you don't have to drop the side panel to give a shot ever just reach in.... I think you will love that chute for everything

I got my Vets old powder river that had a hydralic kit put on it it works great for me. The Vet has one now that was made a local rancher-farmer that makes alot of his own equiment. The chute kind of takes the best of each hydralic chute out there.....

We got the, luvers. chest bar(I think that is what it is called), hydraulic neck extenders, the thing you are talking about for giving shots, the hydraulic levers that swing from side to side, the right door will open, palp with doors that open on both sides and the electronic motor.

I see your vet on the road all over the country, he is a busy guy!

That chute is like a cash register. Every cow through it is KA-CHING!!!! :D
He's good vet and a good guy. Works hard. Makes money. Buys ranches. :D :P

After the first time youve used it your gona wonder, why did we wait so long to get one.. It takes the work out of working cattle. Take my word your gona love that thing. Besides after your sale your going to need a tax deduction. lol

sounds like the exact same model, we took the brisket bar out. On yearlings we run in two at a time. guy i work for never put brisket bar in when we installed it he didn't like the idea of it for some reason

BRG did you get the neck extenders or the neck bar. The new style actually extends the neck or pushes it to either side while the old style (neck bar) just shoves the head over. I haven't used the new style, it looks really handy, I have used the old style and don't like it much. I have used other neck extenders though including Titan West, Parasol, and Daniels, they all actually extend the neck instead of pushing it to the side, they are pretty nice. Not having that neck extender is like having a manual chute without a automatic head catch.

We got the extenders, we all thought it would be better than shoving the head to the side. My Sis-n-law also works for the local vet and she has used different types and said this is way better.

One of the local vets had a local welding shop build removable spindles and a removable tongue on his, no trailer involved. Basically welded square tube to the frame that a torsion axle spindle slides into and pins. Same for the tongue. You can put is trailer in anywhere and don't have to fight trying to get a cart pulled out or pushed back in. His model has a hydraulic cylinder on each corner to lift it off the ground and for leveling.

thorsen's portable manual chute had wheels way to the back, stayed with the chute. Had had a little hydr tank and hand pump about shoulder level. Tongue stayed on, went right to ground, had tread plate on it. Chute came wired with protected tail lites. Vets little wife could go get it, with high lift for tonge.
