I have a question.

Clarence said:
It is not dumping if you are forced to sell below your cost of production it happens often. but when you bypass your own and your usual market and offer to sell for less than that market is currently paying, that is dumping.
Although you Canadians claim your concious is clear, that is why R-Calf filed their suit and proved that to be the case. They could not however prove that that had depressed the price.

I did not join R-Calf, and still won't, because I didn't believe they would accomplish anything with law suits. I did not know much about the Canadian cattle industry, and I still don't, but they claimed that the Canadian producer had several advantages over the US producer and could produce cheaper. They believed, and I guess they still do, that something needs to be done the level the playing field to protect the US producer. Some of the tactics they are using now do not set to well with me.

Clarence I don't know 1 Canadian producer that would knowingly sell their cattle for less then could have gotten elsewhere.
As far as advantages Maybe a tariff should be put on Montana cattle because they don't have sales tax. Or Colorado cattle because they are closer to Greeley. Heck we all have advantages and disadvantages. The Equip program in the US cost shares at a higher rate then our PFRA programs for water. R-CALF proved that our leases costs more then BLM.

Clarence, the US market that Canadians sold into was

1) a normal market so they didn't byass their regular markets

2) the highest bid

US feeders that are selling fats into Ontario are selling to a market that they didn't use to sell into. They are by-passing their regular markets. The reason is because the money is better. Some of those steers are losing money.

Similar situation, no one is being accused of dumping.

Strange none of the dyed in the wool R-CALFers would answer my question. Thanks to Katrina, Brad and Clarence for participating. You to Jason. Clarence when R-CALF was accussing the Canadians of dumping it was US orders for those cattle that were being bought out of auctions and feedlots not Candian cattle being sent south on speculation.

You didn't really have a question. The dumping was proved. You need to review court documents, not a chat room.
