I realized that I hadn't posted anything about our latest project, and today's as good a day as any. Cold, windy, and more snow coming down. This "project" came about last spring in April. My Mom had heard that the local Canadian Pacific Train Station was going to be demolished. It was built in 1904-1905, over 8 months in all, and is the last historical building of that era in our hometown. My wife and I talked to the town council and they claimed CP Rail wouldn't negotiate to sell it to the town for a museum. The town didn't want to spend the money to move it either.
So, a few hundred e-mails and phone calls later, my persistent wife finally got to talk to the decision maker at CP Rail in Calgary, and convinced him to sell us the station, for $1. The only stipulation being that we had to move it immediately, as they had plans for the site. So, needless to say, our summer got real busy from there.
The station:
The 1st day the movers arrived to get started, it rained. And rained, and rained, and rained. Funny how prayers and intentions can be answered at the strangest times.
Getting started:
Off the foundation
I've started another thread to continue the story.
