I need a Math Whizz.

First you need to know the highest multiple of 7 under 417. You do this by = taking 417/ 7 = 59.97. since it is a fraction, round down to 59.

Then list them. The first is 7x2, next 7x3, 7x4 etc. all the way up to 7x 59.

Do you see a pattern in the above numbers? It is the sum of all of the above.

Then sum them up.

Use the sum sign then on the bottom put 2 on the top put 59. After the sum sign put (7n). Then the equation is complete.

Sorry I can not write out the sum sign and show you where all your numbers go.

I think this is correct. I will check it out. There might be a better way to explain it in words.

The answer is the sum sign with 2 on the bottom, 59 on the top and 7n after the summation sign.

The summation notation is found at:

http://www.columbia.edu/itc/sipa/math/summation.html

You can use n for i.

Put n=2 on the bottom of the summation sign and 59 on the top with 7n (or i if you used i=2).

Isn't it positively wonderful to not have to do math homework anymore!
That's one of the best and coolest parts of aging 8)
Thanks for reminding me. I should get up every morning and thank the Lord I'm not in school.

He got 24/28 on the quiz so I guess he got it figured out allright lol.

We want to know the answer the teacher had. Ask him to tell us if he remembers it correctly.

I'm soglad I don't have to think math at all-- usually get two r three answers to any math question....By the way, where do you use that kind of math, anyway?? :???:

The summation equation is used extensively in tournament type systems of pay. In the U.S. it is used in calculating the distribution of pay for poultry growers. This mathematical notation is not spelled out in the contract that farmers sign, but the contract terms clearly use the mathematical notation.

This notation is generally too hard to figure out for farmers who sign the contracts unless there is a little formal education such as a degree in economics or higher level math courses.

Its misuse is the basis of the fraud in the poultry business and the tournament system by integrators towards producers. The fraud is little more than an order of operations fraud but since the notation is not used very much, many do not know it. GIPSA has been fooled by it and therefore is not competent to regulate that industry. It is one of the reasons JoAnn Waterfield is no longer heading GIPSA but the fraud has not been stopped or corrected. The damages done to farmers has not been righted.

With this and other frauds, Tyson has become king of chicken and then bought IBP to become king of beef. I am sure these type of economic frauds will continue as long as we have no or incompetent oversight by Congress and the Tyson's of the world keep placing their money on sold out politicians on the hill.

That is the rest of the story.

Isnt highschool more about chicks and sports? What is this talk about intergers, fractions and n= 2-413...How about reaching your arm up the pop machine to see if you can get a free one....or skipping class just to miss the test on integers.....lol.

Watch out, nonothing. I have three girls and I have told them they can't even hold hands till they are 20, kissing comes only after 21.

Looking at them now, I doubt I will reach those standards, but I can have them anyway. The boys are already lined up, giving gifts, etc.

Although I was out of town, I was still able to tell my 6 year old a good night story over the cell phone. They always have to have a princess, a unicorn, or a fairy in them. Of course, I tell her, she is the princess.

The other two girls are pre teens, straight A students. The middle one is student pres. of middle school and does the announcements every morning.

I am proud of my kids, but they do take a lot of attention, patience, and love.

I hope everyone can give their kids as much, no matter what their financial situation. The money doesn't really count---the family and love you give them does. That is what they remember.

I am only in 8th grade and I'm in Algebra. It stinks. The teacher tells you to get the answer one way and to me it seems virtually impossible! I sit in class and think to myself when is this going to be usefull. The only good thing I can find in it is that I can take calcus as a senior and not have to take it in college. That's the only good thing.  :P :D I hate it. Some is easy and some is completley different.
