I have to run about 3 rolls of 47" high plain old farm & ranch fence (red top). I will be doing most, if not all, of it by myself (I'm 62 & not very strong anymore) and need something that I can attach to my tractor to spool the wire out. Anyone know of such a device that can be bought or made easy??

jrbateman1,welcome to the board,I never have used anything special for fenceing, just a piece of pipe run thru the center of the roll of wire and tied to the lifting arms of the tractors 3 point, assuming you can drive along the fence line...................good luck

jrbateman1,if your tractor does'nt have enough clearance,my big tractor does,my chore tractor dont, then you might wanna think about useing your draw bar, find something large enough and threaded to mount vertical, then slip a piece of pipe over it,then you will have a roller for your wire, probably hafta find a piece of plate for the bottom to act as a washer for the wire to unroll on..............good luck

For the end plates, old disk pans work well. They are round and have the hole in them to start.

I've used a crow bar and my loader to unroll barb wire.

I had though about the drawbar idea but had not figured out a way to bolt something to it. The harrow blade idea solves another problem.

I might be able to hang the fence with a come-along to my boom pole or post hole digger, using a blade on the bottom. A little grease on the swivel and instant fence unroller. I'm not sure if I would need something to hold the bottom vertical but suspect that I would, maybe a chain.

Thanks for the help, my brain is in overload. Maybe a nap is in order..

We have a wire spooler built on the back of our silverlake post pounder. If we are spooling out wire in a tight spot I will just put a length of 3/4" threaded rod in the drawbar hole and put two nuts and washers on it. Then jsut set the spool of wire on it works great and its cheap!!
