i need some ideas

Me and dad just bought a semi flatbed and im going to use it to haul hay. Its a spread axle 45 ft. Little older but should work great. I need to put hay extensions on the sides so it holds round bales better. If any of you have pictures or how to make this. I have plenty of oil well pipe. My thought was to put small oil well pipe inside the bigger oil well pipe so i could fold the sides up some how. Please post some pictures or give me some ideas. thanks

how do you hual your hay end to end or roll to roll. If you hual roll to roll just put a rail straight up about 5 inches. I will get some pictures of mine. If you haul end to end and want the rails to stick out a foot I can get some pictures of them as well.

i haul them end to end so they stick out a little farther then the other way but its easier to load for me....thanks that would be very helpful

Is your trailer 8 or 8.5 wide?
I haul end to end and my rails are straight up about 6inches high. I am legal width all the time. No need to fold up empty.My own bales I only make 60 or 62 inches but hay I buy are usually the 70 inch size.

My rails are an angle iron bolted to the outside of the stake pockets with 1x2 square tubing about 3 inches high welded to that with another 1x2 welded the length of the trailer down the top. I am legal width the whole time and they have worked for 20 years. Maybe you should check with the Hiway Traffic board in your state to see what they require.

I usually carry about 16 ounces in the rear and 12 ounces in the fronts. :wink:

Any one who doen't like that trailer is either to crazy :? to appricate a good thing or just jealous that they don't own it!

The only question I have about that trailer is how the wide spread on the axles works.

I wonder if there could be a problem with one or both getting overweight with some heavy bales?
