The sale ave. was off $500 from last year and included bulls not sold. Last year every bull sold.

The bull I bought is a horned hereford that has been dehorned.

I wonder how come all the bulls weren't bought? What was there floor price?Might have something to do with, people can't dump there cows fast enough these days, even if that just means they all go for slaughter,as long as they are gone.

I don't believe it would have mattered what the floor price was until it got to what they were worth by the pound. When the buyers were done they were done. I'm quite sure most of them will find homes before spring.

It's tough to get many calves without bulls. The good ones are always spendy but its tough to get them bought when the checkbook goes to smoking! Good stock will always find a home. :D

To many bulls not enough buyers is normally why they don't sell here no matter how good or bad they are.

it is getting to the point that you can throw a rock in any direction and it will most likely land in a pen of bulls for sale.

Yep-- for locally here- any sale with over 50 bulls will usually end with them taking home some bulls...You can have a sale a week locally or even a couple in a week-- but over 50 at a sale- and you are chancing getting no sales...

I'm seeing more commercial guys holding back their own calves to use as bulls, and I'll admit, that includes me. I keep hoping the market drops before I really do need a new bloodline.

I can see that, bull prices were getting out of control anyways.I don't mind paying $4000 to $5000 for a good bull, but when there whole bull sale averages $7000 and higher,i think that's ridiculous!!
