I'd like to kick some butt!

Sorry to say that you are right.

We got more x-rays on Monday, and they were really bad news. Her temperature was stabilized, but her lungs were totally involved now, which meant that she was still aspirating fluid into them. The only option was a gastric feeding tube, which involved anesthetic which she probably could not have survived. Enough time had passed that we knew the trouble she was having swallowing and keeping even water down was not being caused by simple swelling. She would continue to aspirate fluid into her lungs and effectively face a cycle of more and more pneumonia. She was faced with either dying from starvation, or pneumonia.

I did not want her to see me leave her behind at the clinic again, so we did the right thing. It would not have been fair to her to keep this up, no matter how hard it was for me to make the decision.

Thank you all for your caring. It meant a lot to us.

 Oh Kato I'm sorry. I've been reading this hoping for a better outcome. We love our dogs and mourn these good friends.

I really don't know how to express the true feeling of grief that I share with you, I look at Matt and know exactly how you feel. I wish we had a pup that I could send you.

Wish I could give you a hug...I too have been watching this, and praying, praying hard for Zelda and you.

Thank you for not letting her suffer any longer. I believe that is what sets us in ag., livestock in particular, apart from our city cousins.

Take care, and may your happy memories of your pretty dog help you heal.

With tears....

TTB :cry2: :(

When does the deer hunt start?

Sooooo sorry..... it's hard and a totally unnecessary thing that happened but you were right by not letting her suffer.

Kato, I am sitting here saying "OH NO". I feel terrible for your loss but I admire you greatly for having the courage to do what was best for the dog. This truly was a sad, sad story. I wish it would have turned out
differently. It hurts to lose a good friend, animal or human.

So sorry about your beautifull Zelda. I know the pain is causes, it's a senseless death. I've lost a good dog to the same kind cruelty, and it's a terrible pain. Thank you for doing right by her, it showed compassion and love. I"ve got my share of coyotes around here, and I do my best to shoot every one I can, but would never consider putting out traps. They are an equal oppertunity killer.

Kato, I know the pain you are going through...and I'm glad you did the right thing to your best friend. It's soooooo sad to see our 4-legged kids have to go through what yours had to    She is at peace

Thanks everyone.

What a terrible week this has been, but things should only get better. To top it off, I had surgery on my wrist on Tuesday, and if Hubby caught me on the computer I'd get an earful.

I have found a litter of pups that were just born on Tuesday, so I'm hoping by the time they are weaned at New Year's I'll quit getting choked up when I see a police dog.

Life goes on, but for our neighbour it won't be with the support of us in keeping the deer population up. We found out that he buys 600 bushels of grain every fall to feed them! This is not a casual snack he's handing out......

Kato, like everyone else, I am SO SORRY to hear about Zelda. I too having been praying for you and her. I know how hard it is to lose a friend. And I bet you'll be ready when the puppies are...how can you resist one. Take care, Nicky

This is the very reason they make kennels. If you have a pet it is your responsibility to keep them contained. This was an accident nothing more. The dog and the trapper were where they did'nt belong.

That is about the dummest argument I have ever heard.

Kato, I am deeply sorry for what has happened to your dog. I can tell you that if somebody did this to one of my animals I would hunt them down and get him into a room for about 5 minutes ......

my state a tresspass dog is a tresspass dog if it got caught in the neighbors place in a trap it was tresspassing, but still the trapper should have told people he was placing snares and the do could have been tied or kenneled at home.

Kato,
as a fellow GSD owner (they really ARE the best), i want to say thank you for giving your Zelda the best gift you could have: a painless trip across the bridge.

she'll be waiting for you when YOU get there, tail whipping, ears up, happy feet :). have faith..

Around here Mr.Remington will get your wandering dog long before Mr.Trapper Better keep them home If you don't believe me ask my neighbor's.I won't tolerate running dogs or as most call it wandering yeah where is that dog I've been wandering about that all day.

Your pet's are just that YOURS not YOUR Neighbors keep them on a leash in a kennel or at home. There is nothing nice about a 6# pile of dogcrap and a 1/2 dozen dead chickens from the neighbor's wandering dogs.We had a neighbor ask me if her dog's had been over here.I asked her if they came home which she said they had to which I replied "Well then they have'nt been to my house"If you want to keep your dog keep them home period.
