Not sure GF but most of the cost (I haven't seen my bill yet) will be the first year CFIA training etc.. If we do this at branding then the vet cost can be minimized to a vet visit, some coffee and a little paper work. It is never a bad thing to take some of the baby steps necessary to further the marketing possibilities. Thanks for that GF.

That feed puts on pounds that are sold at the peak of the market in the spring. It's a win win situation, more weight and a higher price. Doesn't always work that way but if you ask me it should. I don't want to start another calving season discussion, just a little history. Good luck calving, are you in an area that is expecting flooding this spring?

The 'all natural' market was talked up here, but when it came time to
pay up, it was all fizzle and no sizzle. Most of my mineral customers
use CTC because it makes their life easier and they don't get paid
for not using it.

I'm with Denny on this, for our area anyhow.

You are right about furthering market opportunities. The Canada Gold website lists no retail locations yet and I can find nothing about where it may be for sale. I see they purchased the old Western Quality Meats cutting facility in Calgary in Dec, if it is up to code they may be cutting there soon. You would think if they had meat for sale they would be telling customers where to look for it. I sort of get the impression that they are still getting the program started. I wish them the best because any additional marketing opportunity would be welcome.

No we don't get much flooding here the river might crawl over it's banks but it drops off in elevation about 12' just past my house so the folks down stream get flooded about every 10 years or so.

The major flooding is normally on the Red River but thats a 100 miles west of me.
