The Pleasant Point Community Church, deep in the heart of the Sandhills, held their annual Men's Day yesterday. Slightly over a hundred men were in attendance for an inspiring day of great God-filled messages and great food. Scott Mathis, pastor of the Mitchell Berean Church, was the featured speaker. He is also a cowboy, horse trainer, and team roper, so was able to relate to the ranch-oriented audience very well. A musical group played and sang some fine selections. Several ladies of the community served a wonderful roast beef dinner with all the trimmings at noon. Donuts and marvelous pie were availabe at the breaks. These annual events have been held for over twenty years, and I have had the privilege of attending nearly all of them. It is a delightful opportunity to get together with friends and fellow ranchers from a wide area, besides getting well nourished with both spiritual and physical food.

Looks like a good time Soapweed. What was it like to have that many ranchers "singing from the same song sheet"?

Quite overwhelming actually. Most of those fellers are pretty good singers, and those of us who weren't were drowned out and subdued enough that we didn't bother much.

Thanks for posting this Soapweed.

I've had the opportunity to attend two different Promise Keeper's events.

Nothing like hearing over Ten Thousand men worshiping God with song.

Best Regards...

Looks like it was a very enjoyable time and something that there should more of. Us ranchers tend to be an independent sort and a lot of us (myself included) don't get enough spiritual feeding.

Soap, it looks like a great experience for all involved, and at a good time of year for most ranchers to attend before calving season starts.

It's also good to see the ladies featured roast beef on the menu for this crowd. Somebody woulda been in trouble if they hadn't! "BEEF, it's what's for dinner!"

When I lived in that area I attended church there. The church is welcoming to new commers and has great fellowship. Thanks for posting reminded me of days of being a fairly new mother with two little ones to try and keep quiet during the service. :? The church also does a great vacation bible school progam in the summer.

Yup!!

Looks and sounds like a very enjoyable and rewarding day. There is a great movement down here to Cowboy Churches. They are springing up everywhere and their membership is growing like a wild fire. We went to one yesterday that is about 3 years old and now has a membership of over 1,000. Last night I was asked if Cowboy Churches are spreading up north, and I thought, all your churches are Cowboy Churches.

Thanks for posting.
