Anyone have any experience with a 503? I may have acquired one for doing a few acres of feed for pigs/poultry.

gee got a JD 4400 with less then 3000 hours , for a whole thousand... :shock:

This 503 has been doing 50-100 acres for many years, and looks to be in real nice condition. I'll get used to it, even if it isn't the shade of green I grew up with.

Still running the 9500 and the 9550 - - - main reason we traded the 7720s off was so we could put child seats in the cab ( although they are easier to operate)
Between the 4400s and the 6600s I had three Olivers ( the biggest being a 7800 that was top of the line at the time ) Also ran three New Ideas with husking beds ( only 6 row ear corn pickers in the county ) did custom work for several seed corn companies as well as filling 4 cribs that held 8,000 bu each.
I feel with reasonable care most equipment will preform well.

Ain't that the truth, George? I got a D7 3t---early 40's------hyd dozer and elec start on the pony motor been added. And my other stuff is a tad newer----stack cruiser maybe early 60's---and--wowser!---some even newer.
But maintained right, used but not abused, it gets the work done. And all bought on the 'one easy payment' plan.

Went back to California to help out some folks once, these people didn't throw anything away. D8-2u, pony motor had a crank out the top of the hood. Stack retriever was on a 38 dodge 2 ton truck. We went to town for grocery in a 49 Chevrolet 5 window. Pulled the hay balers with 2 fordson majors.
