Since we aren't getting any rain and the future don't look too bright I am looking to buy an irrigation system, but don't know much about them. I am looking at used systems since I can fix just about anything. I have an artesian well that flows about a 2 inch stream of water and a pond to hold the water in the center of one hay field. And my other hay fields have a deep stream of water that never dries up that I can pull water from. Each field is 50-60 ac. Last time we had a drought we produced about half of our normal hay crop and it was really hard to make it through the winter. What do some of these systems cost and what systems do you guys or gals use? I really hate dry condition and wish I could see mud for a change. We normally get 30-40 inches of rain a year, but here lately it's been 20-30 inches. Maybe if Jersey would pay the preacher more money he would let it rain.
I never thought I would have to get one of these here in East Texas, but I guess you have to do something to get by in dry times. :?
