Our Coyote rifle is a Howa modle 1500 bull barrel in a 204 Rugar, it has a 6-18x40 Millit Scope, The scope a great light gather you can see thru it on a clear moon light night. we drop a few yotes over 400 yards one close to 500.
usually shoot a factory Hornady 40 grain V-Max thats -13.2 in at 400 yards and -28.1 in at 500 when in zeroed in at 200 yards.

the .204 around here is gaining ground fast over the 22-250, especially among the fur takers, mostly i just want them dead

Although the 40 grain V-Max has the highest Ballistic Coefficient (.275 G1) of any bullet I know of, 400 yards or so is going to be your Maximum Range with the .204 Ruger without getting real lucky.

Small/light bullets have less momentum and slow down faster due to wind drag, atmospheric conditions.

I ran the ballistics for that bullet and the drop is over 350 inches (29 feet) at 1,000 yards and the velocity at that distance is less than 400 fps.

Like someone here said: "Know your limitations".

Never used "Wipeout". Still use "General Motors - Top Engine Cleaner" almost exclusively.

in my opinion, that is not hunting or at the least, it is not fair chase. but on the other hand, maybe sitting in a deer stand or hiding in a blind isn't either. :?
