Truth be known she fell down and just decided to take a picture while she was down there........ :D (great pictures Jassy)

"Frosted Flakes"..........Mr Lilly likes Frosted Wheat cereal....and if we are out and I'm makin the grocery list....he tells me...."Put hay bales on the list" LOL

I like the first one. It just says "cattlemen" all over it. Reminds me of a poem I wrote:

Cowboy and Truck Driver

It was a frosty ol' mornin--the weather dawned cool
as the cats prowled around a man on a one legged stool;
His head was tucked in the cows right flank
as he was grumblin'about all the ice on the tank.
He got slapped in the face with the milk cows tail
As she shuffled her feet-nearly stepped in the pail.
When the sun come up, he took of one of his coats
And tied on the back of a big sorrel feelin' his oats.
A well gaited sorrel--like a rocker I'd say,
But even a rocker gets old by the end of the day.
He was down by the fence that run by the road
When he seen a big shiney truck pullin' a load.
The driver waved big with a lopsided grin;
the cowboy was thinkin' "thats what I shoulda been".
Hes sittin' by the heater just doin' his thing
listinen' to the radio while the purty girls sing.
He don't have to do nuthin' only sit there & drive
They pay him to travel-That mans got the life!
The driver that waved with the lopsided smile
was sittin there thinkin' as he turned off a mile
"That guy on the horse has sure got a good life,
He spent last night with his family and wife.
He sees so much more than two lines down a road,
Livin next to nature while, I'm stuck under this load.
I can't do nuthin, only sit here and drive
Two state away from my family and wife.
The cowboy and trucker never met face to face,
But they're willin', even wantin the other mans place.
The thing strikes me as odd, and just don't make sense
How different things look when lookin over a fence!

They are all nice pictures Jassy. One thing about looking at, and taking pictures, is that it makes you stop and see all the small things that we normally take for granted. Like the picture Soapweed commented on. Most of us would have went on past, and never noticed the beauty that was there all along. God knows that with the harshness that we sometimes deal with in ranching, we need to stop and smell the roses now and then.

Good job. :!:

Nice poem, Shortgrass. It reminds me of the jet-flying pilot who was a world traveler in his line of work. He commented to his co-pilot one day, "You know, when I was a kid I lived on a farm. When I'd be playing out on the meadow, I'd look up at airplanes streaking through the sky and wish that I could be flying. Now that I'm a pilot and this is my line of work, when I look down on a boy playing in an open field, I wish I could be him again."

This is exactly the way I feel about takin pictures and sharing them. I've carried my camera with me all the time now for about the last 3 years or so. I don't know how many times now that i have it with me all the time, that I see things I've never seen before. It might be a flower, it might be a tree in fall that is an unusual color.....it really opens your eyes to see things that normally you'd walk/drive right past. Some pictures may not mean a thing to one person, but to someone else it may bring back childhood memory.....spark a conversation you'd never have otherwise with someone etc......it's just a neat thing that we can all share our photo's on here. We get to travel without ever leavin home.

Thanks for sharing, Jassy. You do a great job.

Surely that one picture is destined for greater things.
Needs to be entered in a contest somewhere.

Aren't we lucky to have this site? I bet there isn't anyplace
on the internet that is more enjoyed.

Ok, jigs, no comment needed... :P

Jassy---those pictures are beautiful...my personal favorite is the calves with the frosty noses!!! You definitely have an eye for the "little things" that make this life worth the work and worry!! Thanks for sharing with the rest of us!!

Shortgrass----again, your posting really hit home!! So true that we all often think of "how good the other guy has it"......if only we'd stop to appreciate what we have!!

Wow I'm honored with a poem! It was great thanks alot. Also thanks for all your kind words..it's a great ego booster! Actually I am going to try and do something with my pictures this year, we'll see how it goes, but with all the positive responses I've been getting, I was talked into at least trying this new project. Thanks especially to Lilly who is my cheering section behind the scenes...and she's right, along with Tap, on looking at the same ole thing for 20yrs, and now I am seeing it through a camera lense, changes the whole perspective on beauty. That's what's so great about this group of people here, sharing photo's and learing about other parts of the country...I luv it! :D :D :D [/i]

Oh ya Lilly...I was laying on my belly in the snow to get that shot! But I did do one dumb thing though...I should of fed the critters their cake first, cause I had some of them "friendly" cows breathin down my neck! lol All for the sake of a photo!!!lol

Well you know I'm rootin for ya, with your new photo project, and I'd put my bet on you makin a success of what ever you try with your photos.

You (Jassy) have also encouraged me to try new things with the camera lens. I get ideas and inspiration from your photos. Amazing how some of our shots are so much the same, yet so different living as far apart as we do.

Good Luck!!! :D
