Why are the "ENVIROS" & "Animal Rights Groups" picking on us. Why is agriculture the poster child for all that is wrong with big business & free enterprise?

WE HAVE NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR ACTIONS OR LACK OF ACTIONS.

* We have come across as an arrogant, pompass, & self serving group of INDIVIDUALS with no core values except to serve ourselves.
* We have vast tracks of land and resources yet we choose to make sure that no one outside of our click gets a glimpse of what we do or how we live.
* We are fragmented in our beliefs and values which results in our constant bickering over minor issues in our industry.

WE COME ACROSS AS A WEAK AND VULNERABLE INDUSTRY.

Who do the bullies pick on? What is their real objective? POWER.

We are the starting point for a much greater objective. Once enough laws and taxes have been passed to stifle and control our industry the bullies will turn their sites on bigger targets.

They will use all aspects they learned while taking over our industry to dominate the next.

Control our water, animals, food whats next
OIL, LAND, GOVERNMENT?

* It does not matter that we have doubled our production over the last 30 years with half as many animals.
* It does not matter that we have the best source of high quality great tasting protein.
* It does not matter that we are here to feed the hungry.
* It does not matter that we are here to protect the environment.

WE STILL COME ACROSS AS A WEAK AND VULNERABLE INDUSTRY!!!

They have managed to turn ourselves against each other:

Pork vs Beef vs Vegetable vs Chickens vs RCALF vs NCBA vs USDA vs Canada vs Japan vs South America vs COOL vs WTO vs California vs Movie Stars

WHO ARE WE FIGHTING?

Enough Criticism.
What must we do to overcome this?
STOP BICKERING START FIGHTING OUR REAL ENEMY.
-The public's perception-
Change the public's perception of us by opening our doors and our hearts to our customers.
When we actually start caring about our customers, will they then become loyal and follow us as the true providers of food to feed their families. They will then stop donating their hard earned money to the groups that wish to take us down and start buying our product no matter what it is or where it is from.

Take Care

Your living in isolation then. The net result is we are producing the same amount of beef over the same time period, while the rest of the world has been coming on-stream hard in beef production.

We can't beat the world on price. Maybe we can on quality. Regardless, there is a certain segment of society that buys on price and another on quality through all their buying decisions. I buy on quality. Example: I buy good solid lifetime warranty wrenches at a fair price. Although I know there are many people that will buy the cheapest wrenches they can find to get by. The purchasing reasoning for the entire population is not mutual.

Who are we fighting? Simple enough to answer, the UN and all their mandates and congress who is helping to implement them.
Agenda 21/Sustainable development, Million Development Goals, Good farming practices, etc.
World trade agreements and the SPS agreements on "traceability" for NAIS.

Clinton ushered in Agenda 21/Sustainable development along with the help from Pelosi.

You either believe in the Constitution or you don't, can't have it both ways. The citizens of the USA are being divided by the constant barrage of issues, gun rights, marriage, religion, freedom of speech, global climate, health care , race etc.

Everything they are doing is to 'Harmonize' with other nations. Harmonization is lowering the standards in the USA.

When It Comes To Pathogens, Natural Still Means Natural
Posted on August 25, 2009 by Shawn Stevens

All living creatures carry bacteria, and cattle are no exception. For this reason, naturally occurring pathogens may always remain, at least to some extent, an inherent part of the food we eat. And, according to new research, this basic tenet holds true whether beef cattle are raised conventionally, organically or even naturally.

In new study conducted by Kansas State University, researchers have found that the prevalence of E. coli O157:H7 in cattle that are organically or naturally raised is no different than the prevalence in cattle raised conventionally.

The study also found that, when compared to conventionally raised beef cattle, organic and natural production had no impact on the antibiotic susceptibility of the bacteria.

As part of the recent study, researchers collected fecal samples from both organically and naturally raised beef cattle, and then tested for the presence of E. coli O157:H7. Results showed prevalence rates of 14.8% in organically raised cattle, and 14.2% in naturally raised cattle. According to the researchers, the E. coli levels were comparable to those previously identified in cattle that had been conventionally raised.

Additionally, when the minimum inhibitory concentration of a variety of antibiotics for E. coli O157:H7 isolates were analyzed to determine the effects of all three production systems, no significant difference in antibiotic susceptibility was found. The findings of the study are detailed in the August 2009 issue of Applied and Environmental Microbiology.

Notably, in response to a recent increase in reported food-borne illness outbreaks, and a corresponding shift in consumer demand for organic and natural foods, many cattle farmers have considered shifting toward organic-based production methods.

The new study suggests, however, that although organically and naturally raised beef may be popular for their assumed health benefits, neither have demonstrated any effect on the prevalence of naturally occurring pathogens.

HOGG WASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Organic should not be compared to natural !!!!!!!!!!!

In a landmark achievement for farm animals, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm signed a bill today that will phase out some of the most cruel and inhumane cages on factory farms.

The new law phases out veal crates for calves, gestation crates for breeding pigs, and battery cages for laying hens. Not only does Michigan have more than ten million laying hens and about 100,000 breeding pigs, it's a top veal-producing state as well -- so the new law will prevent many millions of animals from enduring a lifetime in cages so small they can barely move.

Animal protection groups, including the Michigan Humane Society, The Humane Society of the United States, and Farm Sanctuary, worked together with agriculture groups to find common ground and create a pathway in the legislature to end these practices. Now, Michigan joins California, Arizona, Florida, Maine, Colorado, and Oregon in banning this type of extreme confinement. This is also the first time that a state legislature has banned battery cages.
