Hi, I'm Adele (Lind) Nichols, Lance's wife. You're words could not be more correctly spoken Cowpuncher- It's NOT fair, not fair at all.
We have had some hard days dealing with the loss of Jason- in fact, I'm not sure yet that it has "hit." We'll have many more to follow as occasions such as his birthday, shippijng calves, Christmas, and branding come and go... We appreciate your prayers and support more then you can know. I will include here the Eulogy which was read at both the memorial service held in Lamar as well as the funeral in Flagler for your reading. I am considering a web site with pictures, as well as the video which my SIL, Melissa, and I made and was shown at the services. If we do it, I will post the link here.

The Nichols Family
Jason Roy Nichols- second son of John and Zee Nichols, and brother to Lance and Mike Nichols born October 19, 1974 in Burlington Colorado. He was 33 years old when called home by our Heavenly Father.
Jason came into the world with bounding energy and ready for anything. It was a Saturday, on Flagler's Homecoming morning when he decided to join us. His big brother Lance was anxiously waiting for his baby brother to be born. A few years later, his little brother Mike joined the family.
Jason attended all grades at the Arriba-Flagler school, graduating from there in 1993. He then went on to Colorado State University in Fort Collins where he received his Bachelor of Administration in Agricultural Business. He was honored to serve as the Colorado State FFA President for the 1994-1995 term, a job he took very seriously and enjoyed the experience a lot.
Agriculture always played a large part in his life. He graduated from college in 1998 and had his eye set on ONE job. He wanted to work for Colorado Beef Feed yard in Lamar. Upon his application, he was hired and began work there in 1999. He started in the feeding department and worked his way to become Assistant Manager of the Feed yard. He put his ALL into his work and into everything he did. He enjoyed spending time with and working alongside all of those at the Feed yard.
Jason's heart was with the family ranch and he was indispensable help there from the time he was small. He loved cows and always has. He had an eye for cattle- which just came naturally to him. Not everyone with cattle has that ability- you cow folks know what I mean by that.
While growing up, Jason worked summers and other occasion for Steve and Audrey Benson. He loved to be around them and considered them his other mom and dad.
Lance and Mike remember all the fun things they were able to do as three brothers on the ranch; there were always horses to ride, fun projects with the livestock involved with 4-H and FFA, water holes to be fished, mostly catching bull frogs. Just all the fun things brothers love to do as they grow up together.
Everyone who knew Jason had a particular fondness for him. He was a gentle, kindhearted person who would do anything for anyone. He was strong as a horse, but gentle as a lamb. He adored his niece and nephews, and they felt the same of him.
Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents Gene and Dorothy Nichols of Flagler and Lee Eddy of Lamar.
He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, John and Zee of Flagler, brothers Lance, his wife Adele of Severance, Colorado and Mike, his wife Melissa Nichols of Flagler. One niece, Payten JoZee Nichols of Severance, and two nephews, Brayden Lind Nichols of Severance and Rylee Eugene Nichols of Flagler, his Grandma, Anna Lee Eddy of Lamar. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many friends.
Jason was such a special young man and will be SO VERY missed by his family.
Jason's mom Zee-
When he was in grade school he would get off the bus and run into the house hollerin' "MOM, MOM!!!" There are no sweeter words to a mother's ears.
Dad John-
Our only logical solution to his untimely passing is that The Lord was in need of a Top Cow Foreman and he had Jason's name at the top of His list.
Brother Mike-
Goodbye my friend, goodbye my brother- we will all someday meet again.
Brother Lance-
I love you and I will miss you. I know you're in a better place now, waiting for us to join you. Even though you were my little brother, I have and always will look up to you.
The Lord trusted Jason to us and let us share in his life for almost 34 blessed years. We are so grateful and thankful for that time. Jason, as your family, we feel that we are better people just by having known you. Go with God our precious boy.
