This time you can actually call it rain-- about a 1/2 inch here so far...I heard one report further north of over an inch...Radar shows spotty from 1/4 inch to an inch and half...
90% chance today and again tonite :) :) All it took was for me planning to gather cows off the community pasture today- trail to the north place and precondition on Saturday or Sunday....They don't need to be off there until the 10th-- so I think I'll go with plan B and gather them Monday--supposed to be 65 degrees-- and IT SHOULDN'T BE DUSTY IN THE CORRALS NOW.......

Now I can WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO-- its up to an inch-both at the north place and down here on the river......

And the weather boys say more is coming- still a 90% chance for tonite and 50% chance tomorrow :D :D :D :D :D

Sure glad for you OT, but could you keep it down there? We REALLY don't want any! (Even though it's showering as I'm typing this.) We have one day of combining and baling left, and tomorrow we were going to move cattle home from our farthest pasture. If it rains, we ain't gonna be able to do that because it's basically a huge slough bottom that just turns into gumbo when it gets wet. And we and the other guy I have asked to help haven't got 4 wheel drive trucks.

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOO WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO-- Rained all night- still raining good...Up to 2 inches now...... :D :D :D :D

Winter Wheat guys will all be heading to the waterholes and coffee shops to dream about their 50 bushel groups and $10 wheat next year....

Weather boys are predicting 60 and 70's for the next two weeks, so this moisture will really make the improved pasture/crested wheat/stubble I'm moving the cows into green up....

Only drawback is antelope season starts tomorrow-- and the antelope hunters will be rutting up every road and trail in the country.....

hey oldtimer, here it is snowing out of the north. Not much sticking yet but the grass is white. Should be a great day as we have to go to West Yellowstone to bleed my brothers cows. The buffalo never left the pasture until after the 15th of May so they all have to be checked and he was singled out again for the third straight year.

No snow here yet-38 degrees- but I heard both north and south of us have some slush...Have fun working those cows- and we don't want any positives...

I have to go inspect some horses in a little while--but should be able to handle that without being out in the weather too long....

This is the wierdist weather-- last night we had thunder, lightning, rain, and wind-- regular thunderstorm-- now today folks are getting snow

We topped out at 2 inches this morning. It has let up for now but we will take any more it wants to give us. Glad i didn't plan the fall gather for this weekend. It would have been a little slick riding the badlands today.

Quit here now and is clearing a little so I think the rain is done....Ended up with 2.2 inches down here on the river and 1.80 at the North place...

Yep- gonna be a little slick for awhile...Water standing everywhere down here on this gumbo :D :D :D :D

Got 1/4" night before last night, 1" last night, woke up to WHITE and snowed all morning yeeehaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad we weaned the spring calves last weekend :D

80% tonite, 50% saturday, 60% sunday,40% monday :(

and currently starting to storm now. :( im so tired of rain. i wish i could make it go where people actually need it. heard something about how it looks like atlanta is literally going to run out of drinking water within the next months. gosh thats sad.

Pleeeeeeaaaassssseeee make it rain here!!!

Eventhough I'm way North of Atl.....they're gonna start looking towards us for their water source. The famous Ga red clay, where one ounce weighs a ton!!, is now like baby powder

Atlanta has only about 3 months of water left in Lake Lanier.

A nice gentle eight tenths of an inch of rain came during last night. That is nearly five inches that has come in the past three weeks. This is quite unusual this late in the fall, but it is mighty welcome after our hot dry summer. Now I need to drain our fire fighting sprayers because it is supposed to get below freezing tomorrow night.

You know, it seems so odd to me how the weather will almost make you give up, sell the farm and just move to town, then out of the sky will come what you need, rain or sunshine. The last two years, '05 and '06 we were literally burning up. We had wildfires every where, starting in November of '05 and the next year, drought so bad that we didn't even get the first cutting of hay till September and it was sorry. This year we got lots of rain, didn't get the first cutting till early July, because it kept on raining, but when we did, it was a doozie !! I didn't cut mine again because I didn't need it. I just turned my cows out and let them graze it, shouldn't have to feed any hay till the end of the year, quiet a change from last year, feeding hay in august and barely making it to grass the next spring. I have friends in Texas who were paying $125.00 for a big bale of hay last year because of the drought, this year, they may have to pay it again, because it hasn't stopped raining. They can't get in to bale, and what they do get now is gonna be so stemmy it won't be very good. Don't mean to be rambling, just always amazed at how we farm and ranch people always need the rain to do somethin, either start or stop.

Rained all afternoon & evening, then snow!!! By morning about 2 1/2 of snow on the ground. Don't know in precip inches, but the road is a muddy mess and we are very thankful.
Sure glad our Church has a mudroom at the entrance.
