Ivomec

Consider yourself very lucky! The Ivomec here is for 500 ML is 142.00 thats the injectible. I am looking for the crumbles for cattle and swine but we don't seem to have it here and shipping from sask is a killer!

Hey Lily,
This is the stuff I'm looking for, you can just put it on top of the grain. Its the generic stuff

Diluted Safe-Guard
Fenbendazole 5000 mg/kg
Diluted Safe-Guard Drug 20% premix for Cattle & Swine
(0.5% Crumbles)

I think a 6 KG tub is about 79.00

The safe guard one is available through a lot of folks. I know we can have it milled into a feed mix or get it from Vigertone as a mineral.. They also have an alfalfa pellet that safeguard sells at the local farm stores. Lots of money.. YIKES!

Ivomec does have a premix that is mixed into hog feed. They don't have anything like that for cattle as far as I know.

The big problem is that we cant get the strongid daily feed anymore. Getting wormer through the border is impossible now so I need to find a Can. dealer.....

MLA if you really want to feel ripped off , the generic ivomec for the states is $65 this year down from $95 last. Then i hear about Merial paying someone big money to dispose of out dated product. Heck if they had been marketing their product instead of holding us producers up they wouldn't have had outdated product. Dectomac is supposed to be selling at $195 so still cheaper then the brown box.

Went to the border last friday to meet the Lextron rep. $65 for 5 liters of the generic ivomec. Be a cold day in heck before I'd buy the real thing again.

Anyone know where we can get it in BC or Alberta? Maybe I can get it shipped or greyhound or some such thing?? One can always hope. i spoke to a couple of the horsey vets up here and they said they would never carry it. They want a brand name to stand behind. GRRRRR

Well after I read what lots of peoplke are paying for ivermectin, I called my dealer up and we had what you could call a fairly lively debate about Merial's pricing policy and the integrity of such a company.

He made the same comments about brand-names and the suspect quality of the generics and how "none of the big guys around here will touch the other stuff -yada, yada, yada . . ." "Your cattle could be condemned if you are caught using it . . ."

What's the verdict on generic product quality from the guys who have used it?

I hear the same stories about it not being as good all the time. The vets are trying to prove it's not as good but i see the Noromectin which is approved for Cnada is down to $180 for 5 liters.
Does anyone know if they sell Noromectin in the US. It's up here from Walco which is fairly big in the US.

I sure didn't scrimp on the dosage tried to guess on the heavy side for my cows and calves. It's so cheap why take the chance of under dosing. 78 cents sure beat $6 when using the Merial product. No one has proven it's not as good.

I've used the generic for three years now and can't see one bit of difference. And like BMR says when it's so cheap ya don't need to scrimp on the dosage. I guess pfizer needs to charge more so they can send my vet on another free trip to the bahamas this year.

I've never seen Noromectin around here- Western Ranch Supply doesn't list it-- I do see that Livestock Concepts out of Iowa is advertising it -- 5L at $120....Maybe thats why it isn't around here when you can get some of the other generics for around $60...

Some of those vets should own the Bahamas the way they charge- I was short on Pyramid 4 and needed another bottle - went to the only local outlet- the vet clinic...Western ranch charged $2.09 a dose-- the vet clinic price figured out at $2.75   ....

Hmmmm, sounds to me like your dealer is toting the company line in an effort to keep his markup healthy. "The big guys" all around me all use the generics, as I learned this year when I was checking on the effectiveness. Absolutely none of them have found a difference between the $60 generic ivermectin product, either in effectiveness nor longevity.

have used the generic for several years--good results.Cost this year $63 for 5 liters. If you have to ship it(U S) there is a hazardous shipping charge,$40 for each package and only two 5 liter jugs per shipment!
