I started my 7400 JD yesterday and it started fine then powered out. I figured fuel gelling. Today I changed both the little in line filter and the main fuel filter. The little primer pump seems to pull but I don't think it is drawing fuel to prime. Can I blow air back towards the tank where the in line filter is or will it damage something in the tank?

Did you try adding a liberal helping of yer basic Kleen Flo fuel conditioner to the fuel tank?

I've found out that this is usually the time of year when condensation problems show up and are complicated by leftover summer fuel.

I don't see why blowing backwards would hurt anything but since I'm no mechanic don't take my word for it.

In recent years, we've had trouble on sub-zero (Fahrenheit) days with ice crystals plugging up the filters. Several bottles of HEET seems to take care of the problem. I was told by our fuel supplier that they add water to produce this new age diesel fuel. It apparently makes it burn hotter. Seems stupid to me in the winter time.

Our TV blew a gasket tonight, so I cannot watch round 8 of the NFR. BUMMER!! I hope I'm not out of commission for the final two rounds.

Is your 7400 running now?

Yep :D

It was fairly mild today and I put the shot gun heater underneath and warmed the tank up. I blew back down the line to start with and it didn't seem to blow back to the tank so that's when I started to warm it up and finally I could get the hand pump would prime. :D :D
