NR,
My boy is 7 years old and thinks he can ride anything with hair on it, ofcourse I let him think he's bullet proof and keep gentle stock under him. We have some poa sized ponies that are pretty nice kids mounts, and a shetland pony that is a mean little BA$tard. Well Clayton Wyatt has outgrown the ponies and rides a real honest old calf/heel horse, but last week he came, bawling and holding his arm, up to the house just as I was pulling in the yard. I quickly found the fracture and put him in a temporary splint, and asked what happened. He'd been riding Richard the shetland and got bucked off. I laughed and asked how Richard (his real name is dick and he has a last name of head but my kids just know him as Richard) dusted him. Clayton Wyatt just shrugged me off so little Callie Dalton my 4 year old girl spoke up and said "we been flankin Richard with a piggin string." I guess Clayton Wyatt was thinking he was going to get in trouble bucking the little kid's pony so he protests, "Dad, I was in time and in good shape and then all of a sudden I was out of time and hung out." I just laughed and told him maybe he rides broncs like his old pops does. Someday I'll explain to him how treacherous a pony can be, but for now I've been razzing him about having to go to riding a quad.
