If they would put Jace to pulling flanks, and hire another good pickup man, that would be an awesome event. Most of the time Jace puts on a better bronc ride, trying to pickup, then the bronc riders do.

My grandfather was a pickup man for many years through the '30s and '40's. One old fella was apparently heard to remark that when Hugh was the pickup man you were more likely to get bucked off the pickup horse than the bronc! Grandpa always liked them with lots of life

Thanks for the pics Soap, things are looking pretty good down your way.

The Jarrard's at Kaycee, Wyoming were the same way. I think Harold Jarrard was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame because of being a pickup man for years. He never wore the chaps the other guys wore and he usually was riding something really green and broncy. He had huge hands, the jr. high and high school rodeo bronc riders would often freeze up on their horses. They said Harold reaching for them was like the hand of God coming down. It was said (and for many years) that Harold Jarrard was the toughest man in Johnson County. He has to be in his 80's now and he'd still give anyone a run for their money!
