[Soapweed]

Storm clouds and soapweeds

Unconcerned cattle

Guarded by a hovering bird

Baldy cow

Muley buck on the skyline

Pushing these to another windmill

Where there is a full tank of water waiting

They have arrived.

I had to climb up and get the wheel started in the not-quite-enough breeze.

You can drive a cow to water but you can't make her drink.

Doctoring a yearling heifer for foot rot.

We ended up doing seven heifers this way.

Some of the heifers behaved better than others.

Another one secured for Peach to doctor

Yellowstone held up his end of the deal.

Kosmo and I cheated by throwing our saddles in the back of the ranger and riding home with Peach.

The gates are open wide all the way home

And the horses know the way. Besides, we had company coming for supper.

Always something interesting going on at the Spearhead!!
The photo looking down on the cattle as they drink is totally
awesome!!! What a great shot! I especially liked the shot
of the lone baldy cow. You don't see many pictures of a cow
all by herself. Horses yes, cows, not so much.

Your grass is holding up really well, cattle look good.

Your muley buck looks like a pretty decent whitetail.

You might be right. He was in a rough hilly area where the muleys normally hang out. Also the white bottom side of his tail wasn't standing straight up in the air, and he wasn't running wildly in crazy fashion as the whitetails are prone to do. He was farther away than the picture would indicate. The camera has a ten-power feature which was in use.

I've treated 4 of the bulls so far for footrot. My son has been helping me get them in and the other day we had to doctor a heifer. He was surprised to know that heifers can get footrot too, since all he's ever seen treated were bulls.

It's funny that spell checker doesn't recognize the word footrot, must not have been raised on a ranch to not know that word.

What are you using to treat footrot? Coppertox & antibiotic injection?

I've been using LA 300, 3cc's per 100# and seems to be working fine.
