Our area had some pretty bad flooding on June 12th. From our place to the State Highway is 13 miles. Our road washed out 24 times in that distance. As well, a State Highway washed out.

Lazy Ace took these pictures and video...lots of water to say the least. It sure filled lots of dams.

The water is pretty dang close to lazy ace's Grandparents and Parents houses

A normally dry draw has become a river

The draws running into the main draw are full....lots of water in the countryside

What Hellacious weather this year-- fields that got hit a week ago just dry enough I was going to try and salvage a little hay tomorrow--hail didn't leave much, but some areas may produce about a 1/5th crop...Other areas look like it was summer fallowed...

BUT now we have several thunderstorms heading right to us, again-- reporting 2 inch hail about 70 miles SW-- already sprinkling from the first storm and the thunder is rumbling  :( :(
Under a tornado watch again until 11PM

Couple of my neighbors live on Dry Run Creek (which was definitely wrongly named for this year)-- they have been flooded 4 times this year- the last time higher than anyone can ever remember--- Since one is an outfitter I offered to put an ad in the paper "Billingsley White Water Rafting and Jones Lakefront Property" :P

Toss a couple gator in there and youve got some excellent protection :) Gorgeous country!

Oh my, LOOK AT ALL THAT WATER!!!

Too bad we can't save it til we really need it.
This is some kind of year, isn't it?

I feel so bad for those in OT's country. I hope everyone
else gets their hay up without big problems. What happened
to OT can happen anywhere in the plains...so GOOD LUCK
to everyone!!!

Good job Lazy Ace! Looks like you live on an island.
It's quite a hassel fixing water gaps, and getting the roads repaired, but must feel great knowing you've got good water for the rest of the year.
Now as long as you can keep getting some nice rains to keep the grass and crops growing.
Looks like you might want to stock up on skeeter repellent

Nice water-front property you've got there! Looks like water-skiing potential. It is too bad you can't store that somehow.

I hope your crops recover and you pull a good year out of this situation regardless, TTB.

What a difference a year makes! Good thing your house is on high ground. You might want to invest in a boat and paddles.

Well we lucked out last night and the storm split-- some going east of us and some west.. Haven't heard any local reports of hail or wind- altho the weather guys were saying some around the county were getting up to 2" diameter hail- 60 mph winds...And some areas of the county got up to 3" of rain again- so several of the creeks will be looking like TTB's pictures again...

Got a .10 of an inch rain at the north place- 10 drops here on the bottom..Went out and swathed for a couple hours this morning- probably didn't cut enough in that time to make 10 bales  :( Then I had a flat on a little tire- ruined the tire  ...Just walked home so I could get some blocking and tools to get that off...

You don't see water like that in western SD everyday. Maybe thankfully that is the case. Our country is sure not designed to take that amount of water at one time.

I do want to compliment you guys on how well maintained your ranch is. :!:

Yes, that is a lot of water!!!! Our neighbors who live northwest of us, live along the creek this all drains into---I think they were a little worried!!!

We are just excited to have the rain. Roads are easily repaired, and thankfully no one was injured or killed when the roads gave way.

Jassy... I hope lazy ace reads your post about the ducks...I've been hinting around for ducks (just like I have been for sheep and pigs :D ) and his hearing loss seems to be amplified when I mention that stuff...come to think of it maybe I should take him in to get his hearing checked, as he hears less and less of what I say....hmm...

Judith...we do have a version of gators up here, it's called a Northern Pike! However, I doubt any are floating through our draws. Let us know if you want to come visit this country sometime, you'd certainly have a place to stay!

feeder...I am amazed lazy ace's Grandparents house has never been flooded. His Grandpa has a knack for putting up buildings in places that don't flood, as you can tell by the pictures. Our house is on top of a hill...we might get a little water going by as it goes down the hill, but nothing like what they see. I think if I lived down there, I'd have the ever living begeezus scared out of me!!! But, they don't get nearly the wind we do either!

OT... I hope you guys dry out. The good ol' SD wind helped out our drying and haying is full speed ahead. We've been fortunate that our hail has all come with rain, so there has been little damage. We do live in hail alley, and know the damage it can do.

FH and nr...We are glad to have some dams full! No crops were damaged (unlike OT's situation) and we're happy as clams.

EP...those damn mosquitos...they eat me alive, and they've now become the county bird

Tap...thank you. I am sure lazy ace's Grandpa would be fretting if he knew I showed the unpainted sides the sheds :!: One thing about it, building maintenance is time consuming! You're right, we don't see water like that very often (last time for this place was probably the Spring of 1997, before that, was probably 1987.)

I think this is what it looked like when lazy ace's older brother graduated in 1987
