Things are tough on this outfit. The lake has gone dry, and my boat has a hole in it. :(

Those red cows sure raise some good calves. Are the reds going to town this fall or are you running them through again.

We are planning to sell all of the red cows, and will probably take them to the sale barn in late October or early November. There should be about a hundred and thirty-five pretty good big-calf producing mommas available at that time. They are bred to Red Simmentals again, and there are seven nice yearling Red Simmental bulls that we used this summer, and will sell the same day as the cows. We haven't kept any red replacement heifers for quite a few years, so the cows are eight years old and up.

What does your sale barn man say about the markets this fall, Soapweed?

He seems quite optimistic. Of course they all are, right? :-)

Those fences made out of Behlen metal brought back alot of memories of when i worked in Neb. Don't see them here in IL. Great pictures. I look forward to your post everyday. Always interesting. Thank you
