Just for you Katrina!!!

They are fearless and meaner than a junk yard dog...... One of the few animals down here I have respect for.. Our dog took one on..... and he has never been the same.... The badger would try for his neck or his hamstring... finally I sat on the dog an son #1 got him ran over with the tractor....

Well Northern he is a cutie in that state! I've met up with one at a gate once, and he stood on his hind feet and challange me in my pickup..needless to say he won!
Hey Katrina...I think the one with the bullet in his mouth would work if we lose this next game friday nite. lol...you know like a headline "Valentine Badgers Bite the Bullet"...I'll be looking for your poster at the next home game...lol

That was a great site northern...I wonder if the government would be happy it seems they put up a play ground for wild life....

I was trapping prairedogs with little traps that were used for muskrats. Went to check one day and had a badger by the back toe. I didn't think I wanted to wrassle with him to turn him loose, so shot him in the head with a 22 pistol. I kept shooting him every once in awhile, for about an hour, before he finally quit breathing. Dang tuff critters.

There are supposedly true accounts of a badger whipping a grizzly bear.

I don't shoot them as they are not a bother around here.

At the neighbors prairedog town, last year, there were 3 different ones who were going around and evidently cleaning up the prairedogs we were shooting. They sure never bothered us and didn't seem to pay us much mind.

By the way, I got to see a mountain lion up between Spearfish and Whitewood the other evening. Kind'a fuzzy and cute. Guy I was with was bemoaning the fact that we didn't have a gun!

NR: Yes Badgers can be tamed; Once when I was working at our north ranch we went over to see one of the neighbours, wondered why his yard was totalled; looked like a piece of swiss cheese! Well he had a badger pup that he picked up on the road after it's mother was killed. It was quite affectionate and loved to rub against peoples legs while circling like mad. The badger and the guys blue heeler never seemed to tire of endless games of tag but seemed to know better than to get each other mad! Phil called his badger "Digby" and believe me that yard was testimonial to the digging power of his pet. It wasn't too long after that that Digby dissapeared; never had the heart to tell the old boy that our hired man had shot a badger that was digging holes in the horse pasture.
