Rumors afloat that a strike is imminent at Cargill's Guelph meatpacking plant this fall. How much of the supply can the smaller Federally inspected slaughter plants absorb?

Part of the reason given is that the owners are asking for wage cutbacks.
 
They are killing a fraction of what their capacity is. I doubt Cargill will mind a strike at this juncture. It could save them money.

Workers in Canada need to be reminded that productivity is necessary to retain your job. If you produce less than you are paid what is the incentive for the employer?

The big R word is looming, too many kids out there think they can get big wages doing nothing. A dose of layoffs and inflation might teach them, too bad that would take out some good folks just getting by.
