This may be a crazy thing to ask but I have been dealing on a swather at Kay Jan, Inc. in Fort Morgan Colorado. If I am going to get this done I will have to purchase "sight unseen" as I can't find the time to travel down there. Now I always guarantee any bulls sight unseen, but I just don't quite feel comfy making this deal without a second opinion. They have sent me pictures, etc and everything looks good.

My question is: Does there happen to be anyone on this ranchers site that is from Fort Morgan, maybe knows a salesman at Kay Jan. I would be willing to work out some kind of deal if someone lived close enough to Fort Morgan or goes there on a semi-regular basis and actually looked over this swather real good and provided some feedback on it.

Everything might look good but how in the world can they tell you how it sounds.

No way would I every buy a piece of equipment sight unseen. Who knows what could be knocking.

This is exactly why I am not comforable. The swather has 1500 hrs on it and is 4 years old - but without actually firing it up and running the thing fully engaged - checking everything out it is hard to decide. I do have the phone number of the fella that owned it. It was painted on the side of the swather for their custom hay harvesting - so I will contact him tonight. He shouldn't have any reason to BS about its condition.

I traded a super NH 1049 stackliner site unseen for a 650 NH round baler plus some more cash on my end. they delivered the baler loaded the balewagon. I was happy the paint wasn't even worn in the bale chamber.Never meet the guy who I did the deal with everything was over the phone and faxes

You'd be suprised. I bought a combine SUS and talked to the farmer that owned it. He said it was a decent old machine, no significant problems. It was a piece of junk when it got here. Go look at it.

When my tractor was down, the dealer had one about the same age (both were 1994 models). The one they had for sale had 3800 hours on it, and my tractor had 6700 hours. The dealer-owned tractor was 105 h.p., had a loader, and was FWA like mine. My tractor, which had 120 h.p. was going to cost about $10,000 to fix, or they would take my tractor as it was plus $23,000 and trade. I almost traded over the phone, then decided to go look at it even though we were very busy calving. I'm glad I looked at the tractor because it wasn't in quite as good of shape as mine is, even though it had way less hours. I would have lost 15 h.p. and the tires were not nearly as good as my own. Anyway, the lesson learned was "go look." Now, for a mere $9,888.00 to pay the ransom, and three weeks of waiting, my tractor is good as new and back helping to run the ranch. :-)

I bought a tractor SUS last year and it was one of the worst purchases I have ever made. Even if I would of went and looked at it I still would of bought it because it looked nice and seemed to run good. I have had more problems with it than I should of and the last time it was in the shop they told me it had as much wear as a tractor with alot more hours on it. But this tractor visually looks really good. So I guess if the dealer really wants to screw you over they can If you look at it or not. I now only buy from dealers that I really trust.
