I don't post very much and about all I do at work is read the interesting threads that you all go through.Learned very much about different walks of life for you guys and ladies.Sat. morning my wife and I bought a 4 month old reg. qtr filly colt for her to play with. After lunch my son (9 yrs) wanted to go to the horse show and ride with his friends, loaded the horses up and went to town with him and wife.Got bored and me and my wife went riding the trail that circles the arena with a long stretch behind the arena,we rode for about an hour and she wanted to race our 2 mares togather.Counted to 3 and took off,I got to the end, looked around and there is my wifes horse,no wife.Saddle hanging on the side of the horse,I thought that the was dragged at the time, but wasn't(thank God). The cinch came loose and she fell off,I got to her, rolled her over as easily as I could and tried to get her to come back to.took her by ambulance to the emergency room Sat. night and we got to finally come home about 10:00 p.m. last night.By Gods grace all she has is a mild concussion, lack of knowledge of anything that happened, swelled up face and broken left wrist.Little swelling of the brain, but Doc dosen't think it will be a problem. Please keep us in your prayers unti she gets better. This is something that many of you are very familar with but it's something very new to her and I.The next time she will cinch her own saddle, lol.Thank you in advance for the prayers

yep, she's been getting the royal treatment, hope she dosn't get used to all of them.lol  she's my world next to my kids and I was doubting myself if I done everything right in saddling them up .thanks

Just the other day I was ridding and let someone else cinch my saddle... After about 20 minutes or so of ridding something felt very, very wrong and I stooped the horse.. The cinch was just not tight enough.. LEsson learned I guess but it could have happened to anyone.. W

Hope your wife gets to feeling better real soon.. I couldn't imagine something happening to my wife.. You are right, my wife is pretty much my world along with the kids... It would be so tough,

will do, Frank. let her know there are many praying for her and hoping for her swift recovery.

Will keep you both in our prayers too. With any livestock, you never know what can happen or how quickly. I also say a quick prayer for safety for me and the horse every time I get in the saddle. We were taught to always pull our own cinch. When I saddle, I pull the cinch snug, then put on the head stall, lead the horse away a few steps to let everything get "settled", pull the cinch tight then step on. After riding a while, recheck the cinch again. Also, be sure your tack is always in good condition to avoid breaking while riding. I learned that one the hard way when I was young

Wowa, close call huh. Glad shes ok and your at her beck and call for a few days :)

See Angus...this is the reason greg tells you to keep your cinches tight...l
