Kentucky Derby

No. 13 Jackson Bend

I really like that filly, but that's a lot of horses on a muddy track, might
be too much for her.

I'll root for her tho. I hope she wins; but I'll bet on Jackson Bend.

Who's your horse, TTB?

The filly (Devil May Care). I think the other contenders will be Lookin at Lucky, and then Dublin.

Edited to add: I really like the story behind Nobel's Promise...great story.

My picks in today's races have not done well, so I hope I did not jinx the Lady.

I hope they all finish safely and it is a clean race.

Cheers----

TTB

I should add, on my "bucket list" is to go to the Derby. I have been to Churchill Downs and loved the place. I can only imagine the aura in the crowd and the amount of electricity in the air. At every single horse race I've ever been to, when I hear the thunder of the hooves as they come down the stretch, I've gotten goosebumps and a lump in my throat.

Cheers---

TTB

We should make plans to go...
It's on my 'bucket list' too; but you have more time to
make it there than I do.

I hope Noble's Promise makes those 'common' people some
money. He looks like a great horse and I love the 'underdog',
always.

They aren't saying much of anything about the horse I picked.

I'll go with the grey #10 Paddy O Prado ......
Weather looks like here- so anyone can win....

BoRail does it again..... I was a cheering for that Noble's Promise to hang in there...
I think the grey was about 3rd-- but you couldn't tell the colors when they came out of that slop...

OT out did us this time. His horse finished 3rd. My horse didn't even get a sniff. :?

I agree, gcreek, the party will be on for the little Irishman.
Imagine winning 3 out of 4 Kentucky Derbys!! He sure hugged
the rail all the way. It was a fun race to watch, no accidents!

I just read where they are making a movie about Secretariat.
It's about time!
:D

We should go...might be dangerous to have us together though!

You know FH, your horse has the same 5% chance of winning as every other horse in the race!

Cheers---

TTB

Let me know when you go so I can be watching for you in your big hats. :D

The Noble Promise was right up front for much on the race. Wasn't he the one to come in from 20th in the starting gate?

Nobles Promise was in the #3 slot-and finished 5th- but he was kind of a special feature since he was owned by about 20 common working folks that all pooled their money together to get the $10,000 to buy him...

Besides watching Paddy O Prado in the future races-- a horse to watch may be that #2 horse-- Icebox that finished second...When they were showing all the replays- that horse got cut off every which way and once had to be pulled totally up to keep from a wreck-- but kept on coming.... And still ended up second....

as i watched the race---at Churchill Downs
the winners and losers---and the smiles and frowns

the next time i'll bet on the jockey----and not the horse
with 3 wins in 4 years---he would win of course

with the mud and rain---Calvin was fearless
as he hung onto the rail----it was almost tearless

but as i bet on another----fine young colt
the next time i'll bet on the jockey----before they release the bolt

Ain't that the truth!!!!

Good job, there, balestabber!

FH I have been in louisville 5 of the last seven years on Derby Day. There are more private JETS than you could ever believe possible at ONE airport.

While traveling along side of the airport it does not appear they could squeeze another jet anywhere around the airport. I was down yeaterday and wanted to just place a bet but was scared I would get hooked.

Just the awe that is in the air on derby day will overcome one if they are not carefull!.

EDITED for words left out  I have been in KY AND TN for 2 days of torrential rains  WORST SITE I HAVE EVER SEEN. HAD 3 grandchildren with me and feared constantly for their safety.
