good morning, all.....gonna be off to work for a few days and just got some pix downloaded of 2 of my younguns participating in their spring sports!! Demodriver does not much care for track (tackle basketball seems to be her sport of choice  ), but she does it to keep in shape and because the kid can really run!! Flint LOVES his baseball and is not too bad, either!! I look forward to seeing pix of all of your kids and the sports they participate in!!

Demodriver (in the green, in the middle) at the meet in Belgrade...nice track, huh???? :o

Flint up to bat against Whitehall...made it to first and then the next kid got him home!!

I sure hope that each of you has a really good day!! God bless!! :D

Al's sport of choice.......anything and everything to do with horses. Being homeschooled, he really doesn't have the opportunity to do any team sports, but that's ok with him, he really doesn't care for them anyway.

Here he is, taking Rocky back to put with the other horses. Rocky is one of those hard keepers, so we had him here at the house, feeding him twice a day, and gave him a dose of wormer. He is starting to pick back up again, so he got to go back with the other geldings.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here he is, just getting to the other pasture, mom was there to bring him and his tack back to the house. That's his yearling heifer, Tillie, on the left, then Alex and Little Dan behind him.

I started track a while ago-I'm 1st in shot in the area and 2nd in Javelin. My right shoulder is all beggared up, so I havent been throwing top notch... yet...I'm not planning on showing them the arm till hammertime-I'll have a little bit of an edge, I hope. I think it's almost crunch time... time to shoiw them who's boss. lol. 8) :P

Ranchwife, NR, Ranchy,
It is so nice to see some people on here that have their priorities in line. Too many people have their wires crossed and use school and activities for a baby sitter and do not have the "time" for their own kids. Not around here. Those kids remember more than who won, who lost, or where it was, they remember who was there, who was supportive, who was cheering, who had helpful tips. We have decided that we are the track parents for this team, and tommorrow I can't go, have to go to Little Rock and teach some other kids, oh well, MCG and her buddies will do well without me, and I'm taking the good camera. What would I do if the world didn't have anymore kids

I"d hafta look for hours to find pics of my kids n sports.

First one played baseball and ran track in highschool.

Lil Lilly has played volley ball, basket ball, rodeo's. Involved in 4H , FFA, and anything else that comes along. I just said a few days ago to someone that she keeps us busy, but it's so much fun.

Last week we took a couple horses in to Texas A & M Vet School to have one checked out for soundness (the one that had the broke leg that was given to her) and vaccinations, coggins, teeth floated etc. Well, knowing she wants to be a vet, and our appt was at 2 pm. I marched myself right into the school and signed her out to go with us. I"m sure she learned 10 times more that afternoon than she'd learn in 6 weeks at school. The broke leg horse turned out sound, so she's plannin to start break away ropin off him.

They did fitness testing today at camp-Ty's grown three inches since last camp but only weighs 10 lbs more-5'81/2-165. He's already bigger than me-well height wise I'll always be fatter lol. What's a good time to run the 40 in?

My daughter Bailey she is 15 this year and is president of the junior quarter horse on the island. She is quite the busy girl and takes her resposibilty very seriously. She has also just started playing baseball so is busy with that 2 nites a week, then spends the rest working on her new horse. She is only doing open shows this year and will start showing aqha events again next year.

Wow!!! I absolutely love hearing about everyone's children and how they find the way to pass time....legally and responsibly!! Sounds like all on here are doing a right fine job with the next generation!! A vet??...You go, Lil Lilly!!! :!:
sw---I agree with you on the use of sports and other "extra cirricular activities" as a babysitter.....have "sacrificed" many an offered overtime shift to see my kids play their games and it was so well worth it!! You can always make up the money, but you can never make up the time you lose with your kids!! Demodriver took a nasty spill the other day while pole vaulting and landed on the area where her neck and shoulders join...has had headaches and inability to turn her head since and my friend the P.A. has diagnosed her with a "moderate" concussion!! No track for the rest of the week, so billings is OUT!!  Just as long as she gets better!!
Northern Rancher----a good time for the 40 all depends on your age....at my age (37), 5 minutes would probably suffice!!
Ranchy---LOVE the pix!! Good looking young man and good looking country!! Thanks for sharing!! :D :D

This as a reminder not to sacrifice education for athletic time! :D (I'm sure all are great parents here, just showing the lighter side of sports!) :D

1. Chicago Cubs outfielder Andre Dawson on being a role model: "I wan' all dem kids to do what I do, to look up to me. I wan' all the kids to copulate me."

2. New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers when asked about the upcoming season: "I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

3. And, upon hearing Joe Jacobi of the 'Skins say: "I'd run over my own mother to win the Super Bowl, "Matt Millen of the Raiders said: "To win, I'd run over Joe's Mom, too."

4. Torrin Polk, University of Houston receiver, on his coach, John Jenkins: "He treats us like men. He lets us wear earrings."

5. Football commentator and former player Joe Theismann, 1996: "Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."

6. Senior basketball player at the University of Pittsburgh : "I'm going to graduate on time, no matter how long it takes." (now that is beautiful)

7. Bill Peterson, a Florida State football coach: "You guys line up alphabetically by height." And, "You guys pair up in groups of three, and then line up in a circle."

8. Boxing promoter Dan Duva on Mike Tyson going to prison: "Why would anyone expect him to come out smarter? He went to prison for three years, not Princeton ."

9. Stu Grimson, Chicago Blackhawks left wing, explaining why he keeps a color photo of himself above his locker: "That's so when I forget how to spell my name, I can still find my clothes."

10. Lou Duva, veteran boxing trainer, on the Spartan training regime of heavyweight Andrew Golota: "He's a guy who gets up at six o'clock in the morning regardless of what time it is."

11. Chuck Nevitt , North Carolina State basketball player, explaining to Coach Jim Valvano why he appeared nervous at practice: "My sister's expecting a baby, and I don't know if I'm going to be an uncle or an aunt." (I wonder if his IQ ever hit room temperature in January)

12. Frank Layden , Utah Jazz president, on a former player: "I told him, 'Son, what is it with you? Is it ignorance or apathy?' He said, 'Coach,I don't know and I don't care.'"

13. Shelby Metcalf, basketball coach at Texas A&M , recounting what he told a player who received four F's and one D: "Son, looks to me like you're spending too much time on one subject."

14. Amarillo High School and Oiler coach Bum Phillips when asked by Bob Costas why he takes his wife on all the road trips, Phillips responded: "Because she is too damn ugly to kiss good-bye."

I hear ya about putting kids in an activity and not supporting them-I've packed alot of kids to alot of stuff-heck it gets me out of work so not all bad.
We rarely went to any sport function without extra kids,we never really minded it at all, theres some really great kids out there too bad some parents didn't have the time to realize that, and workings NO excuse greg and I both worked and if we both couldn't go one of us did.And NR I also can tell you enjoy those extra kids too, they're always a ton of fun :D One of my favorites were the boys burping contests on the way to hockey games :help:

My little gang of bull riders are a fun bunch of guys-There's four I take to just about every rodeo they enter-nice to see the boys getting some covered this year they've sure paid their dues. It's all good though-you meet some real little characters throughout the years in different sports for sure-if things work out by the time the last kid is done I'll have grandkids to spoil lol. My middle daughter got her hunter safety so I got a new hunting buddy for this fall.
