Papa will be thrilled about this!

Kuddly kittens in the hay manger.

Looking out of the barn I saw this magestic bird.

Eagles have taken up a tree grove at the ranch to call home. They are magestic birds I just hope the kids kaptured kittens don't become edible for the eagles. Yikes!

Milkcow chaser was meandering in the meadow when..................

Boy, that's a lot of tom cats (at least 4) in that grain bin that will need fixin' in the future :D
I like the pic of the two females and one male cuddled up.

Hope the little creatures survive the airborn predators.

When the eagles first moved in we were all in awe of them. Watched them build a huge nest and were just enjoying watching them. Then cats were disappearing and now after diving for Milkcow Chaser they are now just Nasty birds! This year also when we walk out on the meadow they will dive at us. I'm not sure if they have eggs in their nest or what because we had never had them behave in this way before.

Now those are some cute lil kittens!

We have no cats on our farm for the first time that I can remember, one of the nasty results of a barn fire . . . . . .

OK I'll bite. I am not a cat expert and actually did not care for them at all until I met the Kit Kat.

But Silver, how can you tell from a pic whether it's a boy or a girl ??

Btw cute pics, I hope the nasty birds behave themselves.

You're right, I assume calicos are female (I have yet to see a male calico) and orange are males (haven't seen a female orange yet either). I am sure there are exceptions but it's generally a pretty safe bet. :D

Isn't there 5 orange cats in the bin?

I have heard that there are male calico's but they are more than likely sterile..Like I said I know zero about cats. We have a calico barn cat and it is female.

As far as orange, haven't got a clue , the less cats around here the better. My Kit Kat does not like them and neither do my dogs..

And yes BMR, I counted 5 as well but I think that is why Silver said at least 4.

I have seen only one calico male myself..but i hear in the pet stores they got one once in awhile and they sell them for huge money..no way i would pay 1000 bucks for a cat

OK Cattle Army SEX those kittens and let us know what they all are..

Les, I wouldn't pay that for a dog or a cat , I will however pay that to keep them alive after I have fallen in love with them and they have become part of my family though.. 8)

As we are 6 miles from our nearest neighbor, our barncats are females and remain maidens all their life. We had a calico stray show up years back that nearly killed one of our cats so it became shot.

As my luck would have it, the stray was a tomcat.

On the good side, we weren't overrun with cats.

My dad and his brother were batching on the new ranch they had bought in 1946. In the middle of a night, a cat fight erupted outside the window of the house. It was dark as coal, and there were no electric yard lights in those days. My dad grabbed a shotgun and shot out into the night. The cat fight stopped and silence ruled again. By dawn's early light, two dead tom cats were discovered laying outside the bedroom window.

Yep, you should have hauled that calico tom into the nearest pet store and collected some big bucks..As I have heard a non sterile calico male is few and far between...

But you know hind sight is for,, well you know the saying.. :P
