I am looking at a Koyker 740 loader to put on my 7410 JD. Anyone have experience with these loaders? The website shows a pic and it looks identical to the JD 740 loader.

I would say John Deere released the patents on that loader model.
I have a 265 Loader that is 27 years old and still used daily. If they half as good that would be great.

I have a neighbor that wouldn't reccomend them. By the end of the second year his was welded in every corner. His John Deere loader was over 10 years old and had 1 weld.

Peresonally I have some pet peeves with JD loaders. Primarily with their self levelling system. Why in the world are there no bushings welded onto the inside of the triangle where the self levelling arms meet? That is an epic fail in engineering 101 as far as I'm concerned.
I also haven't seen many 740 loaders without those levelling arms welded up on one end or the other if they have any age on them.
They sure are a nice loader to use when they in good shape though, and I do like the visibility they offer.
I've been thinking about taking mine to the local machine shop for new pins and bushings, but I'm a bit afraid of what it might cost. I'd like to find just the loader itself without any hydraulics, joystick, or loader frame but that seems like a pretty hard item to track down.

I just purchased a 925 belarus a month or so back and we put a used Koyker 700 on it. It seams like a plenty good enough loader. If anyone is looking for good used loaders the guy I got them from exports Belarus Tractors to Egypt and Vietnam but they dont ship any loaders I paid $1850 for the loader with grapple. He has around 10 used loaders, Leon,Allied,Farmhand and Others All in that $1500 to $2000 range. He drives all over picking up these tractors so I bet he'd drop one off somewhere.

I am working on a trade for a 7700 John Deere...local salesman recommended the Koyker over the Deere...said they are built in the Great Bend factory, and are as good or better than the Deere 740, and cheeper.

Although my loader of choice has always been a FarmHand, these days I don't think the brand of loader is all that critical.

It's the idjit running the controls and making poor choices that can tear a loader up.

Last time I was in Great Bend, maybe a year ago, they were still building loaders. Not sure of the brand, but there were sure new loaders sitting there.
