Jiggsy, I will say one thing about your Mildcats...they are about as inconsistant as a team can be.......one week just lay down like a biatch and the next actually look pretty good.

Right on Einstein. By the way, nice ash whup you laid on IA State yesterday......opps.....oh well, never mind.

It was a win. With Green as QB, I'll take it. The score would have been different with Martinez under center. What about the way KU came back? I wish Turner all the best beginning next year...In fact, KU will be my favorite Big 12 team starting next fall. Things will be a changin' in Lawrence next season.

gonna win TWO games??
turner is a nice guy, I respect him. but he is NOT gonna dominate the big twelve from Larryville....no f-ing way.

yes, the ones where (insert team here) embarrassed NU for being slow.

But the Mildcats got their fair share of the purse from us anyway. Instead of Bill Snyder Family Stadium, the sign should say, "This Stadium and Athletic Program Built by Funds Provided by the Universities of Nebraska and Oklahoma. Thanks, Tom and Barry!"

Didn't the Huskers have to pay the Big 12 several $million$ to leave?

I think it was around 9 million....Sandy will probably know for sure. Texas will probably allow K State to get maybe 100K of that........

Wrong again, Little Friskies breath. Nebraska and Oklahoma paid the fare for the ENTIRE BIG 8, including your beloved Mildcats, 'Hawks, Buffs, 'Boys, Tigers, and Hawkeyes. Every other team in the Big 8 got a cut from any TV games or Bowl appearances, or any other financial windfalls that came NU or OU's way and the powers that be deemed needed to be shared. Nobody bitched about it, and it kept several schools (K State comes to mind) financially afloat for years.

Now that it's all Tejas' way, they don't wanna share revenue from their own TV network or other sources of income. Or if they do let some crumbs fall off the table, the split sure isn't like it used to be.

So you can be happy, Jiggsy. Your Mildcats will get a much smaller percentage of the loot than you were used to getting, and Nebraska won't be around to kick the living crap out of them year after year either in Lincoln or at the House that Nebraska and Oklahoma built in Manhattan. Talk about stepping on dollars to pick up dimes.........

Football "Bowl" revenue is not the only source of income for a conference.

One of the largest sources is the NCAA Basketball Tourney.

KSU has been to the "Big Dance" 24 times vs. the Huskers 6.

They have been to the Final Four 4 times vs. 0 for the Huskers.

This is just one example.

As an outsider, I'm throwing the BS flag that Nebraska and/or Oklahoma has totally supported the KSU athletic program. Unless someone can come up with some real facts and figures to substantiate it.

I'm talking about football revenue. African golf holds no interest for me.

and there is the ENTIRE husker fan base...no other sports count, except the ones we excel in...husker logic is so pathetic.

I deliberately left out gymnastics and volleyball and women's African golf. I believe we have National Championships in gymnastics and volleyball, and came close in women's African golf last year.......but, the revenue from those sports pales in comparison to football revenue. I remember the Joe Cipriano era. At Nebraska, football revenue carries all the other sports

Just keep on sippin' that Husker Haterade, Jiggsy.......but at some point, after the 'Cats keep getting screwed over financially by Texas, you'll be wishing we were back in the Big 12.

Again:

mike, facts and logic are lost on husker fans. the world begins and end with them, and there is no reasoning with them.

they demand that they be the power brokers of the Big 12, yet it has been 10 years or more since they have been relevant....KSU has a more recent title than NU

For the year 2007-2008, Nebraska's TV revenue was $9.1 million, and projections indicate that as part of the Big 10, that will increase to approximately $20 million per year.

During 08-09, the top 10 net revenue (aka PROFIT) producing football teams were (in millions of dollars):

1. Texas--$65.02
2. Georgia--45.38
3. Florida--43.29
4. Penn State--42.63
5. LSU--39.14
6. Notre Dame--38.18
7. Alabama--38.16
8. Nebraska--37.29
9. South Carolina--37.23
10. Ohio State--35.89

Oklahoma came in 15th, with 21.84 net

Kansas State came in 46th, with a net revenue of 7.36 million.

It is also noteworthy that Texas will receive the biggest chunk of Big 12 football TV revenue.

At Nebraska, during the 04-05 season, the sales of football concessions and tickets was $20 million, enough to cover the entire costs of the football program AND the general operating expenses of the entire athletic department. Football accounts for approximately 70% of the entire athletic department revenue at Nebraska.

http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/06/30/for-longhorns-money-grows-on-football-program-instead-of-trees

Let's see...Texas with a profit of 65.02 million, Nebraska with a profit of 37.29 million and K State with a profit of 7.36 million on football alone. And yet Texas wants to keep ALL their TV revenue. Go figure what will happen to the remaining Big 12 schools.

they will continue to play, and actually BEAT Texas, something those who are leaving can not do.

Just for Mike......in an article posted March 18, 2010, at http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/18/news/companies/basketball_profits/

The Kansas State basketball program brought in $5,656,041, spent $4,608,889, for a profit of $1,047,152. Nebraska basketball brought in $6,297,232, spent $3,961,218 and had a profit of $2,336,014.

Maybe the Big Dance and the Final 4 appearances don't automatically mean profits. But then some schools engage in "creative accounting".

Yup, they beat us this year...we can't make mistakes like that and win, but we sure owned K State's ash this year!

That's revenue for one year of basketball. I thought maybe you had figures to show that Nebraska had paid for the KSU football stadium.............Guess not.

So...........if the Huskers and the Sooners had to "pay the fare" for the "Entire Big 8", why did they allow 4 other teams to come in to have to finance and "keep financially afloat"?

Your statement above was arrogant, egotistical, crass, and crude.

All conferences share revenues. That's what conferences are about.

If the Huskers don't like sharing, get the hell out and go it without a conference.
