Saturday Down South (SDS) - Some might call it a schedule. Others might call it a gauntlet.

Regardless, Auburn's possible path back to the SEC Championship game will be difficult considering the opponents they will face in the upcoming season. Because of Auburn's road schedule and who they face at home, ESPN.com has tabbed the Tigers with having the harshest schedules in college football.

Oklahoma State is ranked second, followed by Michigan State, Louisville and Florida State.

Auburn's strength of schedule for 2014 was ranked fourth in the SEC by Saturday Down South back in June.

Auburn travels to Manhattan, Kansas to take on Kansas State in a nationally televised Thursday night contest for their first road test of the year. The Little Apple is never an easy place to play. The Wildcats would love to take a bite out of one of the SEC's premier teams.

Conference roads games include going to Mississippi and Mississippi State, two teams with higher than usually aspirations as well as visiting Georgia and Alabama in a three-week span at the end of the season. The conference home dates are not a walk in the park either with South Carolina, LSU and Texas A&M coming to Jordan-Hare.

And there is nothing like opening the season with a conference game. The Tigers kick things off hosting Arkansas.

Oklahoma State's slate of games is almost as tough as Auburn. The Cowboys open up with the defending national champion Seminoles in Arlington, Texas. Road games against KState, TCU and Oklahoma validate the ranking. Michigan State's trip to Eugene to play Oregon is a tough test but on the road against the likes of Purdue, Indiana and Penn State isn't very difficult. Bobby Petrino's Cardinals face Miami and the Seminoles at home in addition to playing both Clemson and Notre Dame on the road. All four are traditional powers but what are we to expect from Miami and Notre Dame this year? Those two games might not be that daunting. Besides the neutral side game against Oklahoma State, Florida State's seemingly tough games – Clemson, Notre Dame, Virginia and Florida – are in Tallahassee.

careful Mike, playing KSU in the non conf schedule will get you labeled as a creampuff

Bold Prediction !!!! Mcneese State beats Nebraska...their QB is Daniel Sams, who will light them up!

K-St, perennial mildcats
Miss and Miss St..... they play football?
Georgia, we beat them with a freshman QB behind an injury-decimated line.
LSU, has been.
A&M, wasn't much with Johnny Football - have nothing now.

Looks like our high school team could go .500 against that schedule.

Let us sum up the Huskers since Bo came to town:

Wisconsin 70, Nebraska 31 (Nov. 23, 2012, B1G Championship)

Now, back to your satisfying 4 loss season with Bo in charge.

Every year since he was named Head Coach, Bo has WON nine games. That's more than Snyder can say, and he's supposedly a "legend".

I can live with nine win seasons if I have to.

Jigs has the right to STFU, he welshes on bets....typical Whinyazz Wheathead.

Go Auburn!

when you stop banging my cousin Mary we can talk.....

besides, you would just donate the money to the Willa Cather Rug Muncher Museum....

I got to remind Sandhusker, the one who says LSU is a "has been", that LSU won out over Iowa in their Bowl.

You know what Iowa did to the Huskers.

Very bold and brash prediction! How close you were!!!!

And close only counts in hand grenades and horseshoes........

I wasn't surprised Nebraska dropped but didnt know how far they would. I was surprised that Kansas State moved up 1 with there mediocre win against the worst team in the Big 12.

I guess a Big 12 Conference opponent always carries more weight than a FCS team?

The Huskers now have to shoulder the weight of the whole B1G just to get a Conference team in the playoffs. Think ya'll can handle it?

I don't read to much into the nebraska game. It's got to be hard for the coaching staff to get the players to take a game with a fcs school seriously. That was probly mcneese state one big game of the year to really show off what they can do to the whole country so they showed up ready. As far as KSU goes. I think Iowa state has always been a tough place for them to go to and come out with a win. A w is better than a l and move on I guess. One thing I will disagree with eatbeef. There is no way Iowa state is worse than KU!!! :D
