Ladies, I have a question...

And boy, I hope I don't look dumb for asking! Here goes.
I went clothes shopping the other day, and on impulse I bought a sweater and a blouse, never even looked at the washing instructions like I normally do. Anyways, they both say handwash, which I hate doing. Sure, I could return both items, but that's kind of pointless after buying them because I liked and wanted both. Now, for the question, my washing machine has a handwash cycle, would it be okay to throw them in the washer or should I still do them by hand? Would they be ruined by the machine? OK, that's two questions. Please advise.

If it shrinks, I won't be wearing it! :)
FH, you wash everything in the washer??? I'm assuming you have a handwash cycle then? I washed a sweater on the delicate setting, and it didn't turn out so well. That's what I'm afraid will happen to these things. My machine has both settings, but I've never used the handwash one before because I thought the delicate one would be gentle enough. Wrong!

You must not have underwire bras ladies. I refuse to pay the cost of expensive lingerie and not have it last a looooonnnnggg time
LOL yeap beats bending the wires back in shape which they NEVER go back to normal and you end up pulling them out :?

I was at a seminar yesterday where a lady who raises sheep and sells woolen products was speaking. She uses the hand was cycle for pure wool items. If it works for that, it should work for everything, since it doesn't take long in a washing machine for that stuff to turn to felt.

I think there's a big difference between the hand wash and delicate cycles. My machine doesn't have hand wash, but she said the water hardly agitates at all in her machine.

I've got one of those front loaders that spins about a thousand rpms, so I wouldn't try it in mine. :D :D :D

Every thing I own goes in the washer. If it can't make it thru the washer cycle.....it can't stay!!!!! n that goes for under garments as well as any outer wear.

And....I've never had any trouble with underwires....or anything else for that matter not makin it thru the wash. On normal wash cycle....not delicate or handwash.

Well.......minus the odd sock or two that washers seem to eat. But that's ALL WASHERS!!!!! LOL

When I got married some 26 years ago I was going to be a big help and do all the wash one day I was off and the wife was at work. Well to make a long story short It cost me the price of replacing everthing my wife owned but I never did another load until I got divorced 20 years later.
So I say pack the washer full and dump in some sope and turn it on high and step back. When it quits empty it into the dryer and repete. If it survived buy more just like it. If it comes apart, lesson learned.
I shared my washing thoughts with my "NEW" girlfriend and have not washed a load since.
You know women ain't good for much but what a good one is good for often makes it worth all the rest.
