Sunflower

Burning twine, netwrap, and feed sacks

My grandmother made this back in the 1960's from old jewelry she had collected through the years. I gave it to Sunflower,
and would have even if she hadn't burned all the twine, netwrap, and feed sacks. :wink:

Basically 3/4 Hereford and 1/4 Angus, out of a black baldy cow and a Hereford bull

Maybe a smidgeon too much white for my liking

And too pink of a nose

I like this color scheme better.

Pigment around the eyes and black on the nose

They brought lobster, which was wonderfully delicious.

Great pics - but you can keep the lobster - have a hard time getting around the fact I am eating a bug. Just goes against my thought process!

Impressive calves!! Impressive grandkids!! Impressive daughter!!

As for the calf with the pink nose, one of our cattle buyers back in the late 60's
wouldn't buy calves with pick noses and he maintained that showed DAIRY
blood back in there somewhere!!!!

I agree, even though we are a long ways from any green like that here, it is still nice to see. We just started melting away all that snow this week.

Great Pictures. I am just in the BLACK conversion process, so I still lean a little towards the Brockle faces. I agree with Soapweed on the second calf's color scheme more.

It's always kind of fun to see the ranching experiences through the eyes of children and those unfamiliar with it.
