What do you know about Stampede meat that is available in boxes at Wal-mart? I have been asked about it and know nothing. I did go in and take a look. Nice ribeye steaks, cyro-vaced and in a box. Nice packaging...and they are in a 12% solution of something...which turned me off.

The company is from someplace in Illinois.

I'll be watching for your comments, and thanks.

Wal-mart for the most part is selling junk in every area. My wife had a kitchen aid can opener (mechanical) that she loved and had for years. She found some at wal-mart and bought her sister and sister in law one. They were junk. She called Kitchen aid and told them that the wouldn't work and she was disappointed in them. They sent her two more that were like her old one, American made instead of china and they worked great. Same with fiskor scissors. They make a china made on for walmart and an American made one sold at fabric stores. If walmart can sell you something for less by lowering the quality they will. They are deceitful.

If I'm remembering correctly,Hanta Yo did a thread on Walmart beef,I think she was not at all impressed with the meat and the filler in it.Maybe search that thread Faster.

Somehow- "STAMPEDE" meat just doesn't click in my mind as an image of a good eating experience...Kind of relates to me like "ROADKILL" or "GUT SHOT".... My subconcious immediately projects an image of Yakima Canutt chasing a bunch of old skinny Mexican longhorns over a cliff ....

Except- you wouldn't want to hear the images my id process's when I hear the word "Walmart"...Not fitting for a mixed crowd....

Not just WalMart. The Boss ordered a Kitchen Aid food processor from QVC a while back when they were the day's "Special Value". For Kitchen Aid, they were sure priced right and were on EZ pay to boot. First time she used it, the shaft locked up on the motor. I called 'em up, gave 'em the model and S/N, and the gal asked where we bought it at. I told her QVC, and she clacked away opn her keyboard a little and then said "Oh. That explains it." The models QVC had to sell were DISCONTINUED. Kitchen Aid sent us a brand new "current" unit, no questions asked, and that was that.

Makes me kinda leery about a lot of things now.

Kinda scary seeing a relatively new company getting tied up with Wal Mart.

My guess is that either they will go under from the pressure Wal Mart puts on them to lower prices or they will pull away from Wal Mart like Snapper (mowers) did.

Thanks everyone. Any long time reader here knows I am NO FAN of Walmart and never will be. I only went in to LOOK at the meat. And I've
never told anyone to buy meat from Walmart, ever. I just hadn't heard
of this particular brand (if you can call it that) so went to see what it was.
Like I said, "nice packaging" but contains a solution of something. So 12% of the weight was water/liquid anyway.

I had a television cable installer tell me not to buy televisions from
Walmart due to all the problems he had seen with them.

Interesting, ain't it?

So come on, PPRM, what were you waiting to say?

"I won't Bite, at least not first", LOL!

BTW, Drove through Montana, Great Falls, Helena and missoula this trip....I noticed the Beef Billboards, ya'all are doing a great job up there...Many different people doing a great job!
