Got an A'I catalogue today-even though they are my opposition I use some of their bulls at times. Found one black bull who had some EPD's that were interesting-plus En-plus Heifer pregnancy, decent carcass and only a bit too much milk the only drawback was he's got the old assassin EXT back in his pedigree sure enough docility is wayyy minus looks like the tree can't get far enough away from the apple. Looked through the Hereford bulls and tghere's a plus 32 milk bull promoted as a cow maker-maybe if you can still ship cream. I shouldn't say much I'm sure I'll get a catralogue full of the same from my outfit. I see now it's au verbotten to publish an actual weight or a frame score on a bull too hate us old cow waddies to have something concrete to relate to other than a retouched bull pic.

I hear you. I remember when every bull would have their actual hip height, weaning weight, yrl weight, mature weight, etc. Then it went to frame scores. What was wrong with the damn hip height? You have to measure to calculate frame score, why not just say he's 54" at the hip or whatever? More friggin' numbers that we don't need.

I remember my Dad having an Angus bull here that would cover 50-60 cows a year with opens being 1 every other year. Only problem was he was 66" at the hip and weighed 2800lbs lean. When we sold him to Scotland breeders they fed the $h!t out of him and showed him at the Royal in England weighing 3420lbs. I remember as a kid, going through a certain semen catalogue and wondering why all these American bulls were smaller than our bull, until I turned the page on Hoff Valedictorian. He was 64 or 65" at the hip and weighed in around 2800-3000lbs. I got to see him at Hoff's a couple years later. He was every bit as big as I expected.

Old Valedictorian was the first real power bull I ever used A'I-they didn';t get real big here and weren't that bad of cattle-way more fertile than the Max's and infinetely better that the Ext's. I wish I could find some 8K4 semen I had a couple customers used him and thge daughters are pretty good cows-got some feet under them and some guts to them.

Valedictorian impressed me when I saw him in person. For a bull that size, he had the foot and leg structure to carry himself over miles. Had a foot the size of a dinner plate, and all four corners were under him neat and straight.

I used sinclair extra 4x13 a couple of years ago very nice females and seam to be real quiet and he's an ext son. Used 20 straws this past spring. I wonder if handleing may play a part in disposition. From what I've seen some that shoud'nt be hot are and some that should are'nt.

They all get handled the same here and the crap definately floated to the top I threw 600 straws out on an EXT grandson I had this spring-I've got them just about all gone from here-I must of had 150 or more of them at one time. He fixed udders I'll give him that but the bad far outweighed the good-his sire was a bad ash too so it just keep coming down the line. Our rodeo cows weren't any worse to handle. Those that love him can keep using him but I learnt my lesson.
