I been starting to look for a more freash and healthy salad dressing.....Oil and vinger or any vinigrette is just not something i like....I made this dressing recently and if you have a healthy suggestion not involving oil or viniger im listening...lol.

I poured some dill pickle jiuce into a bowl.added some finely chopped dill pickle, then teaspoon of musturd,a tea spoon of garlic ,some pepper ...mixed together.then poured over spinach salad..

it was very good .told my sisters husband about it and he used bannana peppers juice and said it was really good......so i will try it ..lol

Salsa can make good salad dressing and not just on a taco salad. Now there is rasberry-chipotle and all kinds of salsa's available in a jar. Salsa mixed with sour cream makes a nice creamy dressing but doesn't fit the "healthy" part so much. Guess you could use low fat sour cream but God only knows what they did to it to take the fat out.

You said you didn't like vinegar, but that's what pickle juice mostly is, is vinegar. :? Maybe you could try balsamic vinegar, it's dark and a little sweet. Or lemon or some other citrus juice in place of the vinegar to put acid in the dressing and balance out the oil.

OK, family recipe time.

1 cup plus 2 TB. skim milk powder
1/2 cup hot milk (microwave it)
3/4 cup sugar.

Blend it in the blender until smooth and thick. Stop now and you have the equivalent of one can of sweetened condensed milk.
Carry it farther and add

1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup oil
2 egg yolks

Now you have a most delicious substitute for mayonaisse. This will make egg, chicken or salmon salad sandwiches that are amazing. And wonderful potato salad, and as a base for that spinach dip that everyone makes at Christmas in the pumpernickel bread. When it's smooth and thick, store it in the fridge in a jar. It keeps for a long time.

For salad dressing, go farther yet, and

- dilute with a bit of milk to make a nice creamy salad dressing just as it is,
or - add a bit of hot dog relish and a blob of ketchup (I don't measure) and you get a super Thousand Island Dressing.
or - add a bit of milk, and a blob of sweet red pepper jelly
or- add a bit of milk and some green dill
or - use your imagination, the sky's the limit.

Of all the recipes in my arsenal, this is the most versatile and most used one I have.

For a bought Dressing V_Key likes Kraft's "Asian Toasted Sesame" dressing & marinade.

For a different Vinegar Taste try "Nakano's Seasoned Rice Vinegar's"

For Salad Dressings Play around with: Mayonaise + Soy Sauce + Seasoned Rice Vinegar. You might Try adding Toasted Sesame Seeds and/or Ketchup

- If you like it HOT try adding "Sriracha's HOT Chili Sauce"
