Hello all, new member here, my name is Owen. I am relocating from central Ohio to 15 miles south of Fort Worth in early January 2026. I have never lived in Texas and don't know really anyone there. I am looking for a job involving cattle in some capacity, preferably horseback work. I have no experience and would need completely trained on everything as I am very green. I have reached out to local sale barns, ag-extensions, and cattlemens organization to no avail. I would be willing to work for next to nothing, but can't relocate due to lease and would need to commute. Willing to commute up to an hour give or take each way every day for a good opportunity. I know there is some opportunity with horses in Weatherford, but again I don't know the area very well. My only transferable skills would be a strong mechanical basis (can rebuild gas engines, transmissions, and carburetors.), can drive stick shift, and operate smaller machinery (fork lift, small tractors), and no stranger to hard work. I have been scoping agriculture hire websites, ranch classifieds and have reached out to dozens of places. If anyone has any suggestions on finding work, please let me know. If you made it this far, thanks for your time and have a wonderful rest of your day!

A lot more Texans over on Cattle Today so that might be a better site to ask your question. It has been a lot of years since I have been to Texas. But from what I understand 15 miles from Fort Worth isn't exactly ranch country anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion! it is tough as most stuff is in the panhandle and without being in state its hard to find leads on anything over the phone. I will check on Cattle Today thanks!
