I think I may be losing it. Does anyone else remember seeing a post by someone in the last 3-4 days with a pic of a real deep-bodied shaggy Hereford cow, and a real powerful Horned Hereford bull? I can't remember who posted them, but they were from Canada, and said they were apprehensive about posting their cattle.

Ring any bells with anyone? I can remember the pics clearly, just don't know which forum it was on. Might even have been on Cattle Today.

Here is the link to the thread on CT, Pure Country. I don't recll them being posted here.

Those were some nice Herfs... most of the ones I see around here aren't so nice but that is becasue they are crossbred commercials and are just in real bad shape for the most part... Always liked Herfs, one day I might convince myself to try them again after all some of my favorite cows out here are red baldies out of New Mexico or Arizona with a year long stop in Kansas to get bred and shipped...

just curious where you stop in Kansas to bred your reds.... I know Plainview Ranch is a big pusher of the reds.

We got them from Mushrush Red Angus, near Salina I think. They were out of Herf mommas bred to Red Angus cows and they than bred them back to Red Angus cows... We got those in 2004 and than bought some that were 3/4 RA in 2005 that I didn't like as much as the 1/2 RA but they had some tremendous calves.. Even my neighbor who shakes his head at my love of the reds likes them.... I sometimes think that I should just go buy some Herf bulls to produce a nice cowherd or red and Black baldies.. Sometimes. Last year we had a lot of pinkeye problems with the 1/4 herf calves, this year we had almost none.. Of course, the black heifers' calves also had trouble. Thinking the mineral was better this year, the dust was less and the vaccine timming was more correct..
